Lean Meats to Grill?

I LOVE to grill. I grill chicken and shrimp all the time, but want to have something different this week. What are some other lean meats (besides turkey) that I could easily grill? I prefer to just put the meat on the grill and add seasoning or BBQ sauce but if there is a super easy marinade that goes well, I'd love to hear those too. Going grocery shopping tonight so I need ideas! Thanks!

  • Pork chops! I use sea salt and pepper to flavor them, they come out great!

Pork chops just cut the fat off, or beef steak.. Aslong as you cut the fat off then you're fine :-)

Salmon! The other day we used about a 1/4 agave nectar and some paprika and cumin and sea salt as a marinade and it turned out DELICIOUS!

Chicken thighs... they are 100xs better then chicken breast!

Pork loin is a great lean meat

Not meat but you can get some clams and do them on the grill until they pop open.

Burgers (use extra lean ground beef 93/7 or 95/5. Steaks (filet, or I like sirloin steak tips) When I do the steaks or tips, i brush on some of that gravy master (comes in a brown bottle with orange label) it's called browning and seasoning sauce, i always thought t was just for gravy, but it really seals in the juice on steaks. and flavors it so well!

My favourites on the grill are pork tenderloin (just do a simple herb & grainy mustard rub) or salmon.

You can also do wicked portobello mushrooms. Take the stems off, scrape out the gills and just brush with a tiny bit of olive oil. Start grilling with the open side down, then flip them after a few minutes and fill with some basil and halved grape tomatoes and minced olives, cover with a small slice of part-skim mozzarella cheese and grill until tender, warm, and yummy!

Can you get Bison where you are? Very tasty and very high protein.
  • Salmon with a ginger teriyaki marinade. Or with fresh lemon juice.

I should have added that we eat a lot of salmon and have turkey burgers every couple of weeks as well. I live in a tiny town so no venison, bison, or clams at my grocery store :frown:

Thanks everyone! Keep the ideas coming!

    Great Teriyaki Marinade
    1/4 cup water
    1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
    3 tablespoons soy sauce
    1 tablespoon lemon juice
    1 tablespoon vegetable oil
    1/8 teaspoon coarsely ground pepper
    1 clove garlic, finely chopped

    1. mix all ingredients in shallow glass or plastic dish or resealable plastic food storage bag
    2. Add your meat, turning to coat with marinade, cover or seal bag and refrigerate, turning meat occasionally at least 1 hour but no longer then 24 hours.
    3. Remove meat from marinade, reserve marinade. Cook meat as desired, brushing occasionally with marinade
    4. Remaining marinade must be boiled to be served as a sauce. Heat marinade to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 min

    1 tablespoon calories 25, fat 2 g, carbs 2 g

Love this on pork, chicken or fish.
