the 5 PM panic

Around 5 pm I normally still have 600ish calories for the rest of the night. Intellectually I know that is an ok amount, but mentally I start to panic, thinking "I've got 7 hours before I have to go to bed and these are the only calories I get?" I get it in my head that I need a lot more to make it that long and start overeating because I've talked myself into being hungry. Does anyone else have this problem? I think the last 3 hours have been one big binge because of this. My between lunch and dinner snack has more calories in it than lunch and breakfast together. And I thought water was supposed to help me feel full. I've been drinking lots of it, and I'm not feeling full. And I HATE water.

OMG, THANK YOU!!! I thought I was the only one! I have SUCH a hard time staying under my calories!

I think it has something to do with my young, active metabolism (I'm not even 20 yet )

have you tried eating smaller more frequent meals...that might help spread those calories longer into the day & you won't feel hungry. when i get sick of drinking water i add lemon or a thin cucumber slice (yummy!)

I completely know how you feel - I have this same issue. My biggest problem is that I am usually tired and ready to sit down and I know that I can't so I feel the need to eat. Good luck with your weight loss journey :)
  • Maybe you're thirsty rather than hungry? Follow what I do; one 16oz glass of ice water before EVERY main meal and 8oz of ice water before EVERY snack and wait about 5-10minutes before you start eating, so your body registers it's TRUE state of hunger. And I'd really pay attention to what your eating and PLAN your meals to not over-spend to calorie budget. You can add me if you like, and spy my Food Diary. It's public :)

try eating smaller portions every 2-3 hours and also add green tea to your diet. It can be hot green tea or it can be cold green tea if it is zero calorie. In the research I have done it always talks about green tea helping you feel full and helps your metabolism. Good Luck!
