    Im down 75 nearly(232-160). I dont see any loose skin :o I lost it fast to (over past 8 months) but i think i might get a little on my stomach by time im done

    I don't think I count, but the biggest I was was 220 with a 45 inch waist. Then I delivered a 10 pound baby.
    That was 70 pounds and 3 years ago and I have very minimal extra skin.

    I lost 55 lbs and had a bit of excess skin.

    "They" said it would take about 1-2 years for it to tighten up.

    "They" were right.


    Oh, but before the excess skin phase, and after I had lost about 35 lbs, I went through the marshmallow phase. That was interesting! :lol: Everything (skin & fat) felt all marshmallow-y ... and kind of looked marshmallow-y too. :lol:

    220-165 so far. No loose skin and i'm not sure that there will be any. I think time spent at a high weight could play a part, I gained the last 20lbs quite quickly and they only stuck around for about a year but it could also just be genetics and my own personal skin elasticity. I do have extensive stretch marks though and have had those forever, even when I was a small teen. Luck of the draw.

    Lost 180# in 4 years (313 - 132.2). Still have loose skin. Was morbidly obese for 35+ years and am 46 though.

    It depends on age, genetics, how long you were overweight for. I was obese for 10 years, there's just no bouncing back from that (2.5 years after losing the weight, it hasn't changed one bit either). I lost 80 lbs and I was 34.

    I had some stretch marks before though, and I think that it has a role to play there... the skin is already damaged and might not be able to bounce back from that at all. My loose skin is a bit on my arms (where I had stretch marks, so actually worse on my right side), over my belly (stretch marks), inner thighs, and the worst is my belly (just picture the skin of a shar pei). Probably a bit on my butt too. Sigh.

    Lost 80lbs here..was around 32 years old when I started losing the weight, and the biggest part came off in the first year. I was morbidly obese for quite a bit of my adult life, was even overweight as a kid.

    I have a few places with excess skin like my arms, a bit around my chin, and definitely my belly, but it isn't too bad.
    But GottaBurnEmAll is right..it's mostly about genetics. For some people, it may require surgery.

    I lost 75lb several years ago over 18 months, I exercised the whole time, not madly, but fairly consistently and had minimal loose skin (mainly arms) - I was 40 at the time. Have gained the weight back and i'd way rather have a bit of loose skin that all these lbs back again..

    One will never know till they do it. Genetics and age play an important part and losing too fast MAY not let the skin retract back as quickly as the weight loss. You'll just have to do it to find out.
    The reality is is if you do get loose skin, you have a couple of choices: accept it or get surgery to remove it.

    Third choice - maintain and stay fit for a few years, then re-evaluate. Many people report that it takes a while to bounce back.

    Fourth choice - put the weight back on, and fill up the loose skin. Not recommended.

    The OP is young - she has a good chance of minimal issues in the longer term.

    I think it's the same thing and it doesn't seem to happen as much to me now but for a long time, right before I had a whoosh on the scale (I only really lose in whooshes) I would go super smushy. Then whoosh and a day or so after I'd firm up a bit again. Lots of people report this happening, some panic because they think they're looking a lot worse at a lower weight.

    Usually that's what people report. I have a stall and whoosh pattern of weight loss, I can go weeks with no scale movement. Everybody and every body is different. Paying attention to patterns and how your own body works makes this whole thing easier and less stressful!

    this often accompanies a whoosh and is a result of water storage in empty adipose tissue.

    I went from 388 to 185 in a little over a year. I have minimal loose skin. I'm 33, about 6ft tall. I have some around my stomach, but I think incorporating resistance training along the way helped alot.

    I envy those who have no loose skin! I have lost 71 pounds and have lots of excess skin. Having said that I am still way happier. It took me a year to lose that much. Note however that I have been fat my whole life and I am 60. I also had two 9 plus pound babies which didn't help alot. I am hoping that the next year or two will see things firm up a bit.

    Thank you, I feel so much better about this now. I have also noticed that I go for a long time with virtually no change on the scale, then one morning I get on the scale and surprise. I have to do it again just so I can see that new number again.

    I've lost 70 pounds (220 to 150) while getting plenty of cardio and heavy lifting. I would say that what I have is more flab than skin. My arms look pretty good, still some droop in the belly, but my legs from my butt to my knees are "saggy". I'm going to drop to 135 and ramp up my lifting to see what happens. Whether it stays or goes remains to be seen, but either way--I look and feel tons better.

    Age is not always a factor. Youtuber ObeseToBeast lost 100+ lbs and has lots of loose skin even though he was in his early 20s and did lots of weight lifting.

    Just because it didnt favor him doesnt mean age didnt play a factor :P Age 100% is a huge factor in skins elasticity

    I've lost about 70 pounds at this point (240 to 170) and I do have some loose skin, specifically on my upper arms and stomach. None of it is really too bad; my belly button is the worst of it and it just kind of looks like it's "frowning" (turned down at the outer corners). The looseness of the upper arm skin is probably only noticeable to me. For reference I am 5'8" and 26 years old. I was either overweight or obese for over a decade, so I do feel that the long period I spent heavier contributed so some of the skin issues. I still have about 15 pounds to lose and I am hopeful that the skin situation won't be too horrible.
