I'm currently what you would medically call a person to be obese. I want to get back to my normal weight. Which is around 102 pounds. I'm currently at 140 and I'm concerned. Any tips/advice?

I'm in a similar boat (though I've realized that 120-130 is much more my happy weight, especially if I'm active). I'm new, but I would say to use the tools given to you. Invest in a good scale and log meals accurately, find a form of exercise you enjoy and do it, and look through the forums. People may be a bit cut and dry, but they have a ton of good information to offer. I lurk and read a lot because there's just a wealth of knowledge here.

Feel free to add me as a friend.

At 140lbs you might be overweight if petite but hardly obese?

I always tell people, you HAVE to want to lose weight - if you want it badly enough, you will make the effort to log your foods, watch your calorie intake and move more. Small changes can make all the difference but you have to start somewhere.

    All the best.

motivation comes from within. nothing ANYONE says or does will make YOU want to change your habits and follow through with it.

Profile says OP is male, 34. If that is correct, he'd have to be a very tiny male to be medically defined as overweight, let alone obese, at 140lb.

A 5' 3" person would have a healthy BMI of 24.8 at 140lb. He'd have to be 4' 9" (or less) to be medically defined as obese at 140lb (BMI=30.3).

For sure, a person can feel that a lower weight than that might suit them better.

@ShammersPink I didn't go into his profile...I just know from my own stats at 5ft 2 that even when I was losing and at 140lbs I was just inside the normal weight catergory.

Yeah, I was just expanding on your absolutely correct point.

Their profile could be wrong, of course, but OP needs to give a bit more detail if they want any advice tailored to their situation.
