I'm a larger person I wiegh 100kg and need to loose 50.my question is how many calories should I aim to burn in a day I'm not very fit but want to lose as many as possible

    There is no "should"...you lose weight in an energy deficiency...you lose weight when you consume less energy than you expend...you expend energy 24/7...exercise expenditure is generally fairly nominal relative to your energy expenditure merely existing and doing your daily.

    Exercise for fitness...establish fitness goals and work towards those...you will get more fit and have the added bonus of increasing energy expenditure to whatever extent.

    MFP is set up so that you have a calorie deficit builT into your calorie allowance before exercise.

    exercise is mainly for good health - so you should do it, but don't worry about the burn too much at this stage. that being said, DOING exercise will enable you to eat more - as you should eat at least a portion of your burnt calories back
