Hello all,
I am wanting to do some circuit training to boost my weight loss. I am currently 145 pounds over weight, and I am looking into starting a basic circuit training. Any suggestions on where I should start? I was thinking about incorporating 2-3 exercises per body section (legs, abs, arms). I feel that this will boost my weight loss more than the walking alone and plan to do this 3 times a week to start. Any thoughts?

Weight loss is largely controlled by calories, but exercise can increase the amount you expend. Personally, I would start with a structured program (http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10332083/which-lifting-program-is-the-best-for-you/p1) as it would provide you with the greatest results. More often than not, people just do random things or concentrate on isometric moves which have their place, but not as much for beginners.... leading to being inefficient. Some of the dumbbell routines or body weight routines in the link would be a great place to start. The best thing I can tell you, start very light, watch videos on form and even consider having a training watch you or take videos for comparison.

ETA: There are also some really good books if you want to learn more: StrongCurves, NROL4W and Thinner, Leaner, Stronger are great starts

In addition to the above, you can look on Youtube and see videos you can follow along with. Or, for that matter, most fitness DVDs (from BeachBody, Jillian Michaels, et al) are circuit training.

My wife and I use the SworkIt app. It has a lot of low impact exercises and you can customize 3 workouts for free.
