I tried to do a ketgenic diet for three or four days and got really sick. So done with that. I tried all the remidies for everything and they didnt help. Now I have paired it down to 1200 calories a day. Anyone tried the method of eating three four days low calorie then about medium calorie food for three days to keep the metabolism going? I used that back in my twenties but I am fifty three now. Low thyroid and diabetic, losing weight is nearly impossible the dr said its very hard to lose weight. He recomended the low carb diet, but it made me too sick and I couldnt keep doing it. I like low calories instead, more food options and I dont feel sick or burn muscle mass. Anyways looking for successful tips and support.

I have MS and am in a wheelchair. I am 65. I am on 1200 a day and have lost 30 pounds so far. I want to lose 15 more. I eat anything I want as long as it is in my calorie budget. I know it will take months, but I am not in a hurry. I am sure you can lose weight too.4

Check out the 5:2 method of intermittent fasting...It sounds very similar to what you're describing. You can do lower carb (I try to keep mine under 100g/day) without going as low as keto, which was just not sustainable for me.0

I considered south beach level two. I will check out intermintent fasting, I heard a lot of people talking about it on the low carb website but didnt look too closely at it. It seemed a lot of people were eating once a day in one time frame, I dont know if that what this is, but that did not apeal to me. On the keto diet I was eating three meals and two snacks under twenty net carbs a day. Tasty diet but I cant get it drilled in my head that fat aint bad. My dr recomended it but It was just too drastic.

how does 100g/a day work out in net carbs? do you count net carbs? Or just carbs in general.0

I think you may be getting bogged down in this or that "diet" and need to just focus on what works for you to get the calories down where you need them to be. So very low carb doesn't work for you, but you can still try reducing carbs a little if they don't fill you up - have one slice of bread instead of two, that sort of thing - and eating more protein and fruit and veg to fill you up. You do not need a special "diet" that someone else has made up, you just need a way to eat that hits your calories and keeps you from being too hungry. It varies from one person to another - experiment.3

I eat whatever I want on my free days but 5 days a week I'm on Nutrisystem foods. That will change soon though. I eat 1200 calories regardless. Eat what you want but stay in 1200 calories and the weight will come off. If you can cut out a few carbs here or there do it. Eat what works for you.0

Hi just, I understand the impossible to lose weight. It went on for years. In 2015 I got a new endocrinologist for my hypo. He did all tests, I supplemented with minerals. I can give you the list if you are interested in them. Anyway, finally got that worked out with new naturethroid thyroid drug. The lab created was making me worse. Anyway, got that straightened out and still felt there was something wrong just to be diagnosed with diabetes. It's been 3 years of getting worked out and last 10 months of figuring out how to help myself with glucose levels. It wasn't until my thyroid med was appropriate when I started losing weight. So you may need to do some more work on the med research you are on. It all goes together. I've lost about 30 pounds in 10 month but most of it was the last 5 months when I started understanding how my body works. Now I would be losing more because I think to much protein is stopping my weight loss. So I now bought a small food scales it should be here this week.
But, what I'm saying and I'm sure you have done research just look again at your lab scores for thyroid and see where you are on those levels. My iron said within range of the labs guidelines. It was not my normal at all. I was very low and it only took 2 weeks to feel the benefits of the iron supplement. I only respond in length because I know too well your struggle.
It took me several months to find a doctor that listened and worked with me. I hope you are okay with me giving you so much in this response. Have a super day.0 -
There are also groups on here for hypothyroidism and diabetes, you'd probably benefit from some advice/experience from people with the same issues as well as the general forum.0
