So I was signed up for a half marathon April 30th. If I do not sign up I will not even attempt it. So far I can run. . .ONE MILE >.<.
I am slow and I suck at running!
So here I am realizing it is only a few months from a HALF MARATHON and that I procrastinated a little too long.
So uhmmm anyone else try doing a Half Marathon from nothing this close?? If you have any advice other than obviously get off my butt and run???

I found this plan recently. It suits me BUT I have been running for a year, and regularly run 10k off-roads as part of my training and therefore have more of a base-line than you.
My advice - and the same as this training plan allows - is do not attempt to run the whole thing but aim for a run/walk technique. Keep it slow and aim to finish not for any race time.
Better to do it slowly and not be injured than push too hard and end up crippled at mile 5.1 -
This was actually the plan I am trying to follow. I do not have a base line running. I do Taekwondo for an hour 3x a week but no running. Its cold. lol I just joined a gym for a treadmill so I have no excuse now lol

I was putting the miles in but I didn't have a goal or plan other than to lose weight. I got home from my Friday run and opened the paper to see a half marathon scheduled fo the next day and thought "I wonder if I can do that". I entered and did fine. I would start getting your miles up by adding a little to each run. I kept increasing until I was doing 4.5 on MWF, 7.5 on TT and 10 on Sunday. I was perfect training for a half as it turns out.1

I went from just doing the elliptical 4-5 times a week for 30 minutes at a time to a half Marathon on a weeks notice. I did it in 2:07

Don't worry about the pace. My wife is a runner and she alway's says "Your Race, Your Pace". She began with C25k maybe 4-5 years ago. She now has 2 full marathons, at least 12 halfs and numerous 5 and 10k's under her belt.1

I have a hard time staying out of my own head about how slow I am lol Thanks for the advice Mrramsey.1

Agree with the posts about pace. This is your first race. Just enjoy the experience and finish. Talk to the other runners. Read all the signs along the race route and give high 5s to the kids holding the really funny ones. You can focus on time in your next race.1
