I'm sure there is more to it than this, but here goes. Guys in general have more muscle mass. It takes much more energy (calories) to maintain muscle mass, which means guys generally burn more calories even when doing nothing, but throwing exercise in really puts the calorie burning in high gear. I'm sure someone with more knowledge can get into how hormones and such are involved.0

Yep, this is it. Testosterone and muscle mass. Women naturally carry more fat, and as part of this, their bodies are naturally primed to hold on to it.0 -

and if you look up sperm on the food database on here it as 5 calories and 1g of fat, so asks yourselves if you should be cutting back on your after dark activities lol0

More muscle mass/body mass in general usually. But I like Heather's answer more.0

Humans, in general, were evolutionary designed to gain weight- but women in particularly more so than men. So, losing weight for everyone goes against years of evolution. But, for men- most weight meant to be gained is muscle while women it was mostly fat, therefore making it much harder for us to go against biology than for them0

Evolutionarily speaking we women need to still maintain our fat while we wait for the Sabretooth Hunter to return, yet still be able to feed the pregnancy and suckle the baby. Later when we are older we can't move around much anymore and the men won't have any use for us, so we will sit around the cave (cavepeople did that) only able to grab the little critters that scurried by slowly. So we had to conserve. Thus, when you are in your 40's, you could subsist on one grasshopper a day and still gain weight. It's true, I'm over 40 and I can eat practically nothing and still not lose weight.0

My husband says we just don't try as hard. When he says that, I thinks someone should let HIM have it!0

Their craniums are empty. They have dead space. Dead space = less weight.0

I love that this is your 11th post! It shows whats important to you.
Honest answer: i think it helps that our maintenance calories are higher, therefore if we eat the same as a women we loose weight quicker as there is a bigger deficite. You know starvation more message is at 1200 cals for bith men and women?
Also, because men are generaly better at everything *running for cover*0 -

...proof of my previous statement regarding dead space...0 -
Trust me, my head isnt getting any emptier!
(on the basis that physics does not allow for 'anti space' and therefore, as there is no brain left to loose i must be at the lost threashold of brainlessness already)0 -
that's not fat coming out of it is it?! i always heard it was PROTEIN... but hey that's good for you!0

What the (sensible) others have said. Men are genetically designed to build muscle faster and carry less fat, so it is just easier naturally for them to achieve that.
On top of that being naturally bigger and having more muscle bulk, they burn more calories both at rest and exercising. My BIL burns around 1000 cals an hour running. I burn 633. So it is much easier for him to build up more of a deficit.0 -
