Hey!

I'll be running my first half marathon in March, (I've done a full marathon a few years ago) and I was wondering if anyone has any nutritional tips for vegetarians in regards to meeting daily carb and protein goals. I have been a runner my entire life but I've only been a full vegetarian for about 6 months, any tips are welcome!

I just eat the way I normally do when training, honestly. I really only have one long run a week (and several shorter runs for speed and consistency) so it's not in my best interest to drastically add more carbs. I definitely try to eat a big brunch with protein and carbs (such as eggs and hash browns) after my weekend long runs though, but usually I'm hungry enough and it just happens.

Look up No Meat Athlete - he's a vegan ultra runner and has many great tips for running while veggie/vegan.

I've been a vegetarian for 6 years and have run several half marathons. I just eat what I normally eat when training to be honest. If you're having trouble getting enough protein making some smaller swaps like quinoa instead of rice, broccoli instead of a low protein vegetable, etc adds up and can make a difference. I also like to add chia seeds and hemp heart seeds to smoothies. For recipes most of my favorites are from Oh She Glows and Isa Chandra Moskowitz/the PPK.
