Food weights

When you weigh chicken to track it do you go with raw or cooked weight? Same with pasta?thanks

    Weigh it raw when it's raw. Weigh it cooked when it's cooked. I typically do raw because it's easier for me as I'll usually add ingredients such as olive oil. As long as you're choosing the right option for what you want to weigh, you're doing it right.

    As sarko said, weigh it the way you'd eat it.
    After cooking all that excess water will be gone. At least you'll know by how much your food retailer is scamming you ;)

    The weights on the packaging are for uncooked/dry weights unless otherwise stated. For example, my Coach's oats state a serving is 40 grams...that's the dry weight...I weigh out 40 grams and that is what I'd log. It will weigh more when cooked, but that is irrelevant as all I've added is water.

    I always weigh raw when possible as it's more accurate. (The longer you cook the chicken, the drier it becomes and less it weighs, but that isn't accounted for in the logging weights)
