I refused the RNY. I know too many people who have had it. Riddled with various complications and gaining weight back. For me I chose the Gastric Sleeve. I think for me that's the best option. Yes, I have 34 years of bad habits to break. It means re-learning and re-training on what and how to eat right. Scheduled for 3/7/2017 and excited to be getting it done.

My surgeon also informed me that the RNY is now being phased out and only will be used in certain occasions.

I had the RNY in 1998 went from 426 to 161. Here and there I was able to maintain stayed within 155-160. The came kids, my daughter in 2005 and gain 15. Went up and down but always stayed within 170-180. My youngest daughter was born 2008 and I gained another 18. From 2008 to 2016 I have gone up and down 190 to 226 making it harder and harder to loss the extra weight. Today I am at 206.2 With logging and exciting 7 days a week. My goal is to be at 175 / 180 when I turn 43 in September

I had a Sleeve Gastrectomy in March of 2011 - no complications and lost about 80 lbs that year! I didn't get as small as I hoped and just got lazy. I've kept off 60 lbs of it and am now recommitting to losing the rest of my weight. I started really keeping track of all my nutrition and working out on January 1 and am going strong!
