Trying to pick up where I left off.

Hi everyone, I hope to keep this short so bare with me.
Last March I started mfp and did really well but wound up in the er with gallbladder issues. Doc said that I had to remove it eventually but in the meantime had to be on a low fat diet which I maintained until surgery. Had the surgery and stayed healthy and felt great until August. In august I lost my job and all hell broke loose. Besides gaining weight I've had some digestive problems that developed (as per the doc this is normal, and I'm not going to elaborate lol) I even bought a few interview suits back in august and now they don't fit.
The position I was supposed to get fell through so now here I am heavier, no job and my interview clothes do not fit. I physically felt so much better when I was logging on mfp.
I could really use your pearls of wisdom right now Bc I'm feeling so down and I just don't know where to start.

Take it one day at a time and take small steps so you don't overwhelm yourself. Just log for a week and go from there. The neat thing is you have experience and getting back into the routine will be easier because you know what works for you.2

First off, I had terrible gall bladder issues, followed by digestive issues after having it removed. I feel your pain!
It sounds like you're ready to get started, which is great! You've already mentally set your mind to it, so you know you'll succeed. Take it one day at a time, eat less and move more, and don't beat yourself up for having a bad day. 2017 is your year!1 -
Check out Goodwill or thrift store for interview clothes.1

Just set your stats and goals into myfitnesspal- make your goal weight reasonable, loss rate moderate to mild (no more than 1 pound per week).
Get a digital food scale to measure more accurately.
Stay within your calorie goal.
Move. Whatever exercise you are capable of and enjoy, try doing that 3 times a week, then increase as you have more energy. Personally I really love weight lifting- it makes me feel very empowered and strong and when you follow a specific program it can feel very structured... which might be something you'd really benefit from right now. I also enjoy walking and hiking which clears the mind and moves the body and getting outside and in nature is really beneficial. What do you enjoy?
Hope this helps and hope things start working out better soon.1 -

First, do not beat yourself up. Gallbladder surgery is a big deal and when you have surgery, it takes your body time to adjust plus when you are stressed and upset it triggers your hormones which can wreak havoc for us women and our weight.
I second, Mystic Lizard. Take it one step and one day at a time. Do something fun that gets you moving/get the blood pumping. I am Zumba instructor and swear by yoga (keeps me sane and keeps my perimenopausal moods and body in keel). If you need any tips, just let me know. Also, tracking and measuring food/servings keeps you mindful of what you are eating. You have a lot of stress and I know the job hunt is extra stressful. Just set small goals and start small like a 5 minute exercise break--take a walk or find those short free cardio apps or a short 10 minute YouTube exercise video. Hope that helps
I am a bit biased since I am a Zumba teacher but Zumba is a blast and a fun way to exercise and you see the results with weight loss and makes you feel energized and less stressed.1 -
Thank you all!
So far so good I tracked (went over but I logged) today. Drank a lot of water too.0
