I'm sure this topic has come up before but I'm unable to find a definitive answer...
What is the most accurate way to calculate calories burned?
For example, when I go jogging my Nike + app will give an estimate that is significantly lower (about 20%) than the estimate given by MFP for a very similar activity.

I recommend a heart rate monitor with a chest strap. Polar is the brand I use/prefer. Some of the models even calculate the calories burned.0

This topic comes up all the time.
The most accurate way that I've seen to calculate your burned calories is with a heart-rate monitor (HRM) with chest strap.\
Edit: Hananiah beat me to it. :P0 -
Hands down......HRM WITH CHEST STRAP! MFP calorie burns are just estimates.
EDIT: In addition, the better shape you're in, you'll find your calorie burns to be smaller as your body is working more efficiently. When I started playing tennis around, it was nothing to burn 1500+ calories in two hours of playing. Now, I'm just to reach 1200 in 2 hours weeks later now that Im in much better shape.0 -
Thanks for the information! That definitely helps.0
