Hi everyone. I love the outdoors but last year i realized i didn't get out much. This year as part of my weight loss journey i figured i should strive for at least one new hike per month. Im from S. Cal. and theres lots of places i have not explored. This is my first time starting a thread on here. If you would like to join me lets try posting pictures mileage of hikes. May be we can motivate each to get outdoors and be more active.

Nice looking forward to the picture.0 -
I love this idea!!! Not sure exactly what this will end up looking like for me. I live in Mongolia and travel a lot, (and our temps are super cold here) but know that with Thailand travel this month I can start strong and see what to do from there with some cool pics, so I'll give it a try. I miss the trails in America. Missouri has some awesome trails and I'll be back home there in November for a short visit and would love to hike there again for a while.. so this will ensure I am ready for it.3

Sounds like you have an interesting life SheenaBell.

I live in North Alabama, at the end of the Appalachian range. We have a beautiful state park that I live near with great trails. This was a resolution of mine as well. Definitely down.3

Hmmmm, want to join, love to hike but am a bit of a fair weather hiker! January and Febuary will be my big challenging months to get them in but I'm in. The places I like to hike (Mount Rainier) are buried in the snow currently but I know there are others around!4

Count me in!
I too have been wanting to get out there more. I live really close to the LT in Vermont. We usually try to do an over night at one of the cabins a couple of times a year. It's a bit cold for that now, but there are a lot of other trails around me. I look forward to posting pictures of my adventures.
What distance do you guys typically hike?2 -
This is awesome, love the idea. I will use this as training as I want to hike up Machu Picchu in the next year or two.
As above, are there any expected distances or elevations for our hike?1 -
I did it!

I'm so down for this! What a great idea!
I live near Mt. Rainier, as well. We've got a short snow-shoe hike planned for this weekend.
I can't wait to see pictures of all the beautiful places everyone will go!1 -

Nice shot! Looks chilly, hope you stayed warm1 -
This challenge is something I could do. My husband is always trying to get me on the trails. I love state/national parks.1

I think I'm going to give this a shot. I live in Kansas and there aren't any trails near me with any kind of elevation but we do have some really nice flat trails. I'm trying to talk my son into going to Philmont Scout Ranch to do one of their 7 or 12 day treks so I'm trying to get him to go on more hikes with me to show him how much fun it is1

Went for a short hike yesterday and got some friends to come along! We had a great time. I forgot to take a picture but here is a picture from the same trail last time I did it. Also my miles for yesterday. 3.99 miles of the 4.36 was from the hike!

My hike from Sunday! Only went about a mile up - I didn't have snow-shoes and the snow was DEEP.

I love this idea especially since hiking is my favourite activity.
It was a very cold day on this hike on January 8th but we just bundled up in many, many layers.

Went on a 3.5 mile hike. The weather was great and it was nice to see all the green hills. I will post a picture as soon as figure out how to post pictures.3

Hey guys! I haven't posted on this thread in quite some time -- I hope everyone is well! I've been hiking quite a bit although I can't post any pics because I'm on my mobile. I'll send an update soon!1

Hike to Franklin Ghost Town on Sat. June 10th. Pretty neat spot, lots of history!

Hike through Pt. Defiance Park on Apr. 2nd. There's lots of different trails through Pt. Defiance. If I remember correctly the one I was on was called the Spine Trail.

Hi everyone. I'm a little late to the party but I'd love to join in. I had a similar New Years resolution to be outside more in general. I love being outdoors and I love hiking but I'm also a homebody. It takes a little effort but once I'm out the door and in the woods I'm in my element. Since I moved from Maine to Florida I haven't spent as much time in nature here so I'm hoping to get out of my comfort zone. It's very hot in Florida for the next few months so I'll be looking for a few short hikes to get me started. There's one called the Hidden Waters trail I think I'll start with. If I remember correctly it has a pretty little stream. I'll take a pic for you guys. But for now, here's one I took last time I was there.
I love this idea and I love seeing all your pictures. This challenge is just my speed, especially since a big motivation for me for weight loss is to eventually hike the Appalachian Trail. Thanks for having me.0
