Hi everyone I am new to MFP joined ages ago but never got into IT.Have been entering food diary for a week .I am confused with Fluid intake .I hate plain water and have to put a little squash or cranberry juice in it .Do my cups of tea and coffee count as part of my fluid intake .As they do in other diets.

I always count coffee and tea as fluid intake. Some people will argue that caffeine is diuretic and negates these fluids but the effects of the caffeine are so small in the overall picture I don't worry about it.

Yes you can add them as they have calories but just logging how much water you have is fine! All I have is squash because I don't like plain water either I just log it as water though x

What about seltzer? Would you count that as water?

Coffee, tea, and seltzer and even carbonated beverages count as water. If they are accurately logged, you can get a large amount of sugar and fat from the items you choose to count as water.

There are no peer-reviewed academic publications which support that statement. We are on our own for it and that's my assertion.

I listen to a BBC podcast called 'More or Less' ... normally about money/statictics but this week on the world-service (meaning anyone should be able to listen) they had a great 9m podcast about water intake... where it came from (the advice) etc...
