Take a few session with a personal trainer. Great investment!1

Don't forget to lift heavy things as well. It is good for you. Also, take the time to learn proper form.0

I agree with the personal trainer tip. Previously I would just go to the gym and faff about not really knowing what was doing. I see him each week and then I have a program to follow for the rest of the week. I know how to warm up properly and am beginning to learn how to strength train. And i had never touched anything other than a treadmill before.1

1: Define your goal(s) for us.
2: What equipment do you have at your gym? Or, at least, what gym is it?
Any advice you receive will be general without that info and may not be entirely doable/appropriate.0 -

I would only agree with this if the personal trainer was included free with her membership.0 -
First define your goals, what do you want to achieve from going to the gym? And to look better is just as good an answer as any, but different goals are going to mean different suggestions. But once you know your goals look on these forums for structured programs to follow to achieve your goals. Start educating yourself about nutrition and exercise. Check your gym, some offer free orientations/trial sessions with a personal trainer.0

I disagree. It's well worth the money to learn proper form and get a workout routine. Plus it sounds like all the OP knows how to do is Zumba. She's not maxing the benefits of her membership.
But most memberships do include at least one session.0 -
