Mix paprika and cayenne, black and white pepper, some garlic powder and salt, oregano or thyme if you have it.
It definitely doesn't need sugar. Smoked salt would be awesome in there.
You might also enjoy ethiopian spice mix. We buy this stuff in bulk, mix it with some cumin and coriander, it's like magic.1 -
