Slow metabolism /thyroid issues

Hi y'all I'm Amanda. I've been struggling with my weight for about 10 years- since I had my kids. Then had a very horrible life experience that made me depressed and eat everything. Now I'm 29 and around 360. I have a week or two where I do great! I eat perfect and do cardio for at least 30 min. Then I lose no weight and get discouraged and depressed. And of course fall into my comfort foods I've had thyroid issues in the past and didn't take the medicine. Got rechecked recently and found my #'s were right where they should be. But I'm still not losing the weight!!! I don't understand why. I feel like I'll be fat the rest of my life.

Are you tracking your calories and weighing your food? It's entirely possible to eat "healthy" food choices and still be eating too much.1

Tracking on here yes, but not weighing0

Just takes time and consistency. When you are very overweight it is very common to plataeu for many days or weeks as your body fights to hold onto water. Google Lyle McDonald whoosh effect.0

I would start by getting a food scale and weighing everything. Make sure you are using correct entries in your diary, etc.
I'm also hypo. A few years ago I lost over 60 lbs, and recently I'm down 30. It comes down to consistent and accurate logging regardless of what I'm eating. I try to stay active, as this allows me to eat a little more and it makes me feel better overall. I don't believe I have a "slow" metabolism, but I do notice a difference in my caloric needs if I'm being active vs sedentary.
My mom is also hypo, we can both eat what MFP suggests for us and lose about what it predicts per week. Many other people I've talked to with hypo have had similar results.
Buckle down on the logging and try to keep moving! If you're still on meds, make sure you're taking them consistently and not near meals.1 -
Thank you so much for the advice!0
