Hello my name is Denise, I'm 64 yrs. old. I would like to lose at least 60 to 70lbs. I just signed up today and it gave me a calorie count in which I'm to consume. What I need to know is if I eat these calories everyday will I lose the weight or should I consume less.

It's up to you. If you eat fewer calories, you should lose weight more quickly.0

Be careful with this. Eating too low is not only hard to maintain, but why would you suffer through it when you can still eat a decent goal while losing weight?
They suggest for women to not ever eat less than 1,200 calories. Depending on your height/weight and weight loss goals, it will give you a certain deficit to hit that.
EDIT: Think of long term sustainable weight loss. Lifestyle changes and making the right choices vs. eating nothing to lose the weight quick but not learning anything about moderation.2 -
It gave you the calorie goal based on your current statistics and the amount of weight you told it you want to lose. The calorie goal is a goal, meaning you ought to try and meet it. While the above poster is technically correct, undereating can lead to nutritional deficiencies, binges, and giving up. Better to eat at your goal and assess your progress. Do remember to recalculate your calories as you lose weight, as your allowance will go down. Also, log your exercise and depending how much you do, considering eating some of those calories back.0

The calorie count is a suggestion and should allow you to lose. But trying to get all the food groups in is important.0

I find that the calorie count given on this site can be a little off because there are so many variables. I work a desk job, and will consume 1400 calories on a non workout day, and 1600-1700 on a workout day. If you are doing little activity, it may suggest 1200 calories, but I would never go below that.0
