ITB pain question.

will compression socks help ITB pain from running? lately I've been getting knee pain on my left knee. I know some people swear by compression socks, I've never tried them.

Probably not. The issue is most likely not your knee. The source is much higher with the ITB starts. I fixed my issue when I finally started focusing on my thigh and side of my leg with stretches and a foam roller. Rest was also important.

Not in my experience. Actually addressing what is causing the knee pain will help. Do you do any strength training? Weak glutes and hips commonly cause IT band tightness and knee pain. So can increasing distance/intensity too soon. Decrease your mileage, ice your knees after running, and look up the myrtl routine. If you still have pain see a orthopedist.1

I do strength training 5x a week. lower body MWF. upper T TH. I did 4miles after 2 weeks off today maybe that was it? thank you0 -
I have IT band problems too. I try to do the right stretches for it but sometimes just the poke of a finger causes me a shooting nerve pain because my bands are always so tight. I don't really have much advise to share, but I know how frustrating it is.1

Yes, see a physio to find out what is causing it. Mine was weak hamstrings. I had to do very specific exercises to strengthen my hams. It's common for women to have an imbalance of strength between quads and hamstrings.
I also did a yoga program specifically for runners that focussed on hip strength and flexibility. Back running again now with no problems.0
