Felt like a bada** -- strength training

After reading many posts here I went to bodybuilder.com and started doing a lot of reading. I found a great beginner strength workout and today at the gym did my first workout using weights over 10lbs ever! Normally I use 5lbs, 8lbs and 10lbs when using dumbbells.
Today I did 70lbs deadlifts, 4 sets/6reps
20lbs dumbbells in each hand for bench presses, 4 sets/6 reps
30lbs one-arm dumbbell row, 4 sets/6reps
Felt pretty great! After that finished up with 30 minutes of the TRX workouts and I am feeling like a bada$$

Grats! I live for deadlifts, awesome feeling picking up all that weight.
I kind of want to change my 5 day split to all something where im doing the big 3 multiple times a week.1 -
my only suggestion is to find a program for compound movements with barbells like Stronglifts

Dumbbells do not mean isolation. In her description of what she did, there were no isolation exercises mentioned. While a program is preferable, she hit most (if not all) major muscle groups with what she did. In fact, what she did was pretty good.1 -

I agree with this, although it seems the OP in that particular instance used them for bench press. She is only lifting 40 pounds total (or 5lbs less than an empty barbell). I'd say it's totally fine to build up that strength until a barbell is used and assuming she's on a good program from bb.com.
Great job OP, keep it up and you'll watch your strength increase pretty rapidly.1 -

I say isolation mainly because I've worked with dumbbells at first too and found that it causes uneven strength build up partially because dumbbell bench needs more bicep work and the barbell bench engages the tricep more than the dumbbell one.
She did dumbbell bench press and dumbbell rows but if the gym has those barbells with set weight build on them those would be ideal to build the strength.
and I was just offering a suggestion to another program that may suit better.0 -
