So I know some of you will bash, but I have lost 70 pounds eating a low carb diet. I eat as much as I want until I'm full, and only eat when I'm hungry. I eat veggies, and meat and cheese and other dairy, limited fruits but some. Nuts, low carb whole grain high fiber breads (limited amount)
I love food and I love not being hungry and eating delicious food that not only fills me up physically, but mentally satisfying as well.
I have about 70 pounds more to go, and I hope to be at my goal by the end of the year!!! YAYAYAYA anyone thinking about doing a healthy low carb diet, ask me. I have tons of recipes tips and support for ya!

The key to ALL of these low carb/no carb type diets is keeping it off long term. As you transition towards your goal weight, you have to start integrating carbs into your diet.
Otherwise, when you eventually go back to eating carbs, you are gonna start gaining again because you arent used to them, and you don;t know healthy carbs/proper portions.
Statistically speaking, of course.
Best of luck, I know you two will make it! Stay strong, and make sure you don't fall into that trap!
P.S. For a low carb diet, the Dukan diet is one of the best ones, because it slowly reintegrates healthy carbs back into your diet. +++++ points for that. It helps the weightloss be sustainable!0 -
I tried Low Carb yesterday for the first time (under 75 grams in one day). It didn't work for me. I was just way too tired, had a headache and got dizzy. I'm back to about 125 grams a day, which is more sustainable for me, but anyway CONGRATS on 70 lbs down! THAT'S AWESOME!!!!!
Do what works for you! :flowerforyou:0 -

Right I understand, and I will never go back to eating carbs the way I did before, I will never go back to eating processed, "white" carbs. I don't miss bread really, but the way I stand now, I think I can have a limited amount of carbs for the rest of my life and be just fine with it!0 -

Ya I did feel yucky like the first week, but after that I had so much energy it was unreal. I've leveled off now. Feel great.0 -
Staying at a low carbs(40 or less) for too long is not healthy on your organs or your brain. I try to stay between 75 to 100 a day and 100 to 150 on protein and I have been losing weight just fine. some days its easy and some days its not but its easier on you to stay at that range as a life long change and not kill your self doing it then trying to stay at 20 or 30 for the rest of your life. Just because something works doesn't make it healthy. You have to think about your body long term and not short term. Your body need energy to function and carbs are energy. You may lose it fast keeping them too low for a long period of time but you will gain it back just as fast once you jump off that wagon. Just something to think about. Here are 2 really good articles to read about it ...

That's normal, but it only lasts a day or two at most! By day three your body is using your fat for energy and you feel fine! It's up to you but I'd try push through the first couple of days before giving up You could try gradually lowering your carbs?0 -
I don't do low carb on days I workout only on days I don't but I definitely have a hard time keeping it low carb on those days and definitely would appreciate some recipes for my low carb days!0

OP, what level do you keep your carbs at? I am thinking of doing some variation of low carb because I constantly have carb cravings and I feel like they "control" me, if that makes sense.0
-
OP--GREAT JOB! You are the poster child for the low-carb lifestyle! Keep it up, you got this!0

OP, you are an inspiration!
I am a low carber and a diabetic. I am losing weight and my diabetes is at the very best it has ever been. I love this way of life!0 -
CONGRATS!
Good job on your success... and continued success.

ya I agree, I don't plan on staying at 20-30 for the rest of my life, I plan on upping my carbs to a ranger where i don't start to gain weight after I reach my goal, and see what works for me based on my activity range.0 -

Congrats, I've tried many diets and the only one that works for me is no carbs..
But I do have carbohydrates for breakfast (in limited amount) to get my calcium & fibre for the day - I think in terms of diet, it's whatever works for you. I'd love to be a person who can eat a wholewheat waffle for breakfast and not put on weight or snack on greek yoghurt & natural honey but I understand that's just not me.
Once I reach my goal weight I'm going to try and introduce healthy but yummy carbs and monitor it, but for now it's not worth it to me.
I do however still try & count calories on here etc just to check i'm not under/overeating.0 -

I agree! I wish I could eat carbs and not gain weight like crazy. But as I get close to my goal weight I will add back in some healthy carbs and see how I do.0 -
Zucchini Pizza Crust
2 to 2 ½ cups grated raw zucchini (about ¾ lb)
Garlic Salt
2 eggs
2 Cups of Mozzarella Cheese
Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
Preheat the oven to 375F Lightly grease a standard-size nonstick baking sheet with sides. Transfer zucchini to several layers of paper towels and squeeze to get most of the juice out. Transfer to a large bowl and add the eggs mozzarella, and pepper; and garlic salt toss well to thoroughly combine. Transfer to the prepared baking sheet, pressing mixture evenly into the sheet with your fingers. Bake in the center of the oven until brown and crisp, 12 to 15 minutes. Edges may even look a little dark, close to burnt, it does not hurt the taste. Pull the crust out of the oven and top w/ all of your favorite toppings, all meats pre-cooked. Put back under broiler until cheese is melted.
(It’s really important to squeeze as much of the liquid out of the grated zucchini as possible before mixing with the other ingredients)0 -
