Fit bit calorie adjustment

Can anyone explain the fit bit calorie adjustment to me? Do you eat back these calories? My calorie goal is set at around 1800 based on my weight and my weight loss goal I entered into MFP.
But by the end of the day my fit bit calorie adjustment is around 900-1000 and I've usually not even exceeds 10000 steps. So I eat these calories? It makes it look like you
Should as I always have about 1000 remaining ......

Today I did 12000 steps and it has added 1500 calories for an adjustment! I'm obviously not eating these back but why are they there?!

that fitbit adjustment seems high, do you do alot of driving commuting it may be counting a bunch of extra steps. i plug mine into the usb charger so it doesnt track steps while driving.

they are there because you are more active than the MFP goals you set..
example i set my activity level to sedentary, and to lose 1lb a week. MFP gives me 1850cals per day. which is a 500 calorie deficit to lose that 1 lb per week.

now as i am not truly sedentary sitting on a couch and sleeping 24hrs that day. As i am active through the day, walking in the morning and at work, running errands etc, my fitbit activity adjustments is earning calories to eat to maintain that "500" calorie 1lb a week loss deficit.

so mathematically. say you earn an extra 500 calories a day but do not eat them back, you are now in a 1000 calorie deficit which would equate to 2lb a week loss.

i would eat some of them back, but if im not hungry im not going to worry about it that day...

Double-check your settings in Fitbit. That's really, really high (unless maybe you are extremely heavy). Or-if they were all very early in the morning and it showed that adjustment in the morning, maybe it might be extrapolating out to a ~100000 daily steps in estimating that. (Garmin gives me ~130 calories for 11000 steps @ 130 lbs & sedentary).

I average about 8-10k steps a day. And obviously it depends on what activity i do that day on how many calories it gives me. Since there is definitely a margin of error for the amount of calories FitBit calculates for my burn, I usually only eat back about half. But I go off of how I feel.
I also do a sanity check since my fit bit syncs with MFP, they show different calorie goals for the day. For instance FitBit said I had 189 cals left yesterday and MFP said 460. I figure as long as I am below calorie goal for both, I am good to go.

I find the fitbit heart rate really overestimates the calories compared to the estimates on a machine at the gym or my polar heart rated monitor. I think I will use the more fitbit for exercise times and add the polar heart rate monitor estimates manually. My trainer says to shoot for a certain calorie goal + or - 200 cal and any extra I lose from exercise is bonus weight loss. I am just start so I'll see how it goes.

I have found using my fitbit for the amount of calories left is more accurate. I hit a plateau and I got one for the holidays and now I am losing weight again by following. MFP gives me way more calories to eat and I just log my food in it since it's better for that and use it for support.
