So, I specifically choose a hotel with a gym...I asked again when I checked in, the clerk said oh yes. ..I suited up, went to the gym... CLOSED for remodeling!

I would be livid. They better at least comp you with a free continental breakfast.

Please don't do this. There's about a .0000000001 chance the the person who they yell at had anything at all to do with the problem, or can do anything about it. Yes, you should've been told when you made your reservation, but it could be that it simply slipped the mind of the person who made your reservation, or, if you booked through a 3rd party (Travelocity, etc.), they didn't even know.

Woah, if you work in hospitality and specifically that hotel, you should know what amenities are available at that time where you work. Due to their error, as you specifically were looking for this feature and requested this knowledge before and at the time of check in, you should request a gift card, spa credit or credit to a restaurant nearby. I would not take simply a complimentary breakfast. That's my opinion. Don't be an *kitten* about it of course, but I would be extremely dissapointed too. Sorry!

How long are you at the hotel for? Can't you do body weight exercises in the room? Go out for a run round the block (depending on where the hotel is and if it's safe)?. Briskly walk along each corridor then run up the stairs to the next floor and repeat? Or if it's just one night, relax and have a night off, it's not the end of the world, no matter how frustrating it may be. And next time, make sure you ask if the gym is open?

That would piss me off! I'd probably complain loudly then go up and down the stairs about 100 times for my workout.

This isn't one of those hotels where you check in but can't check out is it?
