Getting older & less active

Just hit 45yo, I have never been this heavy in my life it's so hard to lose weight as you get older!

Please don't tell me 45 is older. I'm turning 40 in a month. Come on...age is just a number. Don't feed into the hype.1

No please don't say 45 is getting older I'm 69 there is no age barrier to this weight loss lark. If you want to do this then go for it and stick with it. Good luck3

Glad to know I'm not the only one who is refusing to grow up all the way1 -
I just turned 62 in Dec. All I can tell you, from experience, is that as you get older you have to move more--not less. If you do, you'll find that you can do amazing things.5

It isn't easy at any age. It comes down to commitment and how badly you want to lose weight.

Get more active then! Here's a tip for you - watch less TV to get more time to be active.
The most important factor in weight loss is from how much you eat - that's not age related.
Please save using age as an excuse until you are elderly and infirm but not at 45.

I see it the other way around...I think in one sense it gets easier. Not the exercise part of it all...the body just doesn't want to cooperate sometimes. However if you start small and build up some of that difficulty can be overcome. I am 64 and about a month ago I started training to be able to walk a 1/2 marathon by the end of the year.
On the other hand my son who is 30 is struggling to lose 20lbs. His job is demanding and his time is not always his own. There are weekly luncheons to attend...lunch or dinner out with his bosses...he has to travel periodically...taking his staff out after work. Then there is his social life and all that comes with that.
At my age I don't have to worry about having a great looking behind...I just have to worry about not having one quite as big as it is now and that it keeps moving...that I can climb a set of stairs...get up out of my chair/bed...that I can pick up things out of the floor.
I struggle with the same thing that younger people struggle with...not eating more than what I burn.4 -
I am 53, and in better shape than many of my children's friends in their twenties. Age doesn't matter, I am saving the age excuse for my eighties!3

I don't know, I'm 45 and it's not all that hard. For me, it's been accepting that my body isn't going to look like I would LIKE and accepting the best it can be.

45 years old and have lost over 30# this past year. You can do it!2

Turned 50 last month. Spent the previous year and a half getting in shape for it. Had to fight through nagging pains that eventually I got through. This morning I weighed less than 200 lbs. for the first time in 20+ years. I was 230 lbs at 47. Every year one waits makes it a little more difficult to get in shape.3

63 and down 50 pounds (15 pounds below my goal) in the last year. I wish I was 45 again, with the determination I have now to make this work. Get your mind in the right place and make this happen. All these posts should inspire you and get those "old" thoughts out of your head.2

Ha Ha!! I'm with you! My motto is, "60 is the new 40!".
OP: Get a plan. Get on it. Stay on it. You can have results, or excuses, but not both. Good luck!
