How high is too high when you are working out...
Also, how fast do you run when you use a treadmill...

Max heart rate depends on size, age, etc - so it's going to depend on the person.

General rule of thumb that doctors say that max heart rate is 220 - Your age. So if you are 20, it would be 200.

Now, the highest you want to usually get oyur heart rat too is at 85-90% of your max, so in the realm of 170-180 would be EXTREMELY intense workouts.

Standard running should keep you between 65-80% of your max, so 130-160 is fine. as an example for our 20 year old test subject ;)

Keep in mind, your fitness level determines how easily you will hit that max though. If you are not fit, you might hit a HR of 160 by just walking, whereas I REALLY have to push myself to hit 160.

Everybody is different there is no way to answer your question correctly. You can do metabolic and VO2 testing that can determine your different training zones and resting heart rate. I did the testing through the company I do personal training with. Some gyms also offer it. You can also search the internet and find ways to do it yourself but I am not sure how accurate it would be.
