I see on here all the time about people concerned that they put on a few pounds even though they are doing everything right. So I am posting all my daily weights. I weigh every morning in my pjs with no shoes after I use the restroom and before I eat or drink anything. Here you can see all the crazy fluctuations that your body can go through even when weighing at the same time everyday. If you notice though there is a definite downward trend and that is what really matters.
I hope this helps someone.

Thanks!!! It really does make more sense when you actually see it like that... People always say that your weight fluctuates, but it doesn't always "click" until you have an example right in front of you!0

Nice work! Very interesting to see the numbers day by day and to see the trend. Great job.0

Thanks! This is a really good frame of reference! :flowerforyou:0

No offense to those that do, but this is the exact reason why I don't weigh myself every day.0
-
I'm a weekly weigher too.0
-
thanks! I think i am going to start doing the same thing. i have been relying on the scale at work which is what we 'weigh in' on for the challenge going on here, but it stink because the scale is never here! we weigh in next week 'officially' but my scale reads different than that one.
i weigh myself every day at home and it always changes. now i am going to grab a pen and right it down!0 -
Thank yo so much , I was a little afraid to post this but I really think its important to see how much weight can vary but really your still moving toward your goal.
Also if you want to know ( this may be TMI lol) This was the week before my monthly visit
Weight 01/04/09 183
Weight 01/05/09 185
Weight 01/06/09 185
Weight 01/07/09 187
Then the very next day I dropped back down to 183 soooooo DONT weigh that week lol!!!0 -
Great work, Suldrun! I noticed that you have lost 12 pounds in the last month! That's awesome! 3 pounds a week is great! Keep it up! :flowerforyou:0
-
thank you so much :blushing: yes I think a lot of it was from the first week so i expect it to slow down..but I am enjoying it right now lol. I actually have it set for 1.5 lbs a week.0

I weigh every day and write it down in a notebook, but I only enter it in here once a week, usually the same day of the week every week. The weight fluxuations don't bother me because I know that it will do that.0

Whenever I want to become one, I'm in doubts about which day to pick. I mean, which day should suldrun have to pick, in order not to get discouraged?0 -
To gain some consistency, I recommend only weighing yourself once every week or two. Watching your scale every day can be deceiving. As fat is burned under your antipose tissue, your body will begin to reshape itself over time. You may not notice any loss looking in the mirror or at the scale, however, if you take tape measurements every two or three weeks, you will see real change that you can believe in! :blushing:
Focus on how you feel when you know you are eating right and exercising to improve your overall health and well-being. This is the true measure of success, not obsess over every ounce you weigh all the time. Remember, Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither were our guts. It will take some time and committment to get rid of it in a healthy way and keep it off with a new healthy lifestyle.
ps. I agree that women should not weigh themselves when they have their little visitor! :ohwell:

It's funny how you guys are posting your weight daily. I just started my workout last week and 3 days later I lost 2 pounds and then 3 days after my weigh in i gained 5 pounds. I am back down 3 pound but I said "WHAT THE HECK" to myself and was upset for a minute. So THANK YOU for letting me know I am not the only one!!
One last thing...as far as weighing yourself everyday my thought is this..WHATEVER MAKES YOU HAPPY AND KEEPS YOU GOING! If you weigh yourself everyday its a good maintenance control and you can also take a look at what effects your weight loss and gain. Our bodies are different and every time you go to the doctor they ask you When? Where? What? and How often? You need to answer that question for yourself. If you choose to do it weekly that is good for you too. But whatever you do it is ok and just be intuitive and not discouraged.0 -
Go on - do it!
Weigh yourself everyday and get in tune with your body.
It's one of the best things I've ever done.
It's all water. You can bet a salty dinner the night before means a couple of extra pounds of water weight.
On the other hand if you only weigh yourself once a week it means that you are not in tune with the fluctuations of your body. That means that you can do a lot of damage (overeating or eating stuff with high salt content which you shouldn't be doing either) in the course of the week, but if you weigh everyday you can see when a couple of pounds creep on by Wednesday rather than put on five and realize it Monday. The everyday weigh-in can lead to damage control and the, motivation and resolve to keep going on you exercise and diet through weekend as well. My friends think I am obsessive....oh well. For me it's about as obsessive as logging everything you put in your mouth or charting your visitor (if you're a girl).0 -

I weigh in every Monday. Someone people say they don't on Monday's because of the weekend...but weekends are just another couple of days for me. Nothing different.
I went through the OP's weigh ins...beginning on a Saturday. Checking only the Saturday's, the weigh in's consistently showed losses.0 -
i have no problem weighing every day. When I was a healthy weight I weighed a lot and noticed tons of fluctuations then even though I wore the same clothes so i learned that it is normal. i like being in tune with my body and I thought it was neat to recognize the patterns. Seeing the patternes over the long haul make me pretty comfortable and unemotional about normal fluctuations.
I think you should weigh when are most comfortable either once a week or daily . I simply posted this to help people who maybe have not been here long enough to see the trend even though they are doing all the right things. Because I see people getting upset and I just wanted to show that it is normal to fluctiate in weight daily but it does not mean you are not losing in the long run.
Weigh whenever you feel comfortorable and can mentally handle it. One way is not better then another simply a personal preference. Try a few different weigh in intervels untill you find what works best for you:)0 -

I see soooooooo many folks worrying about weigh fluctuatons when weighing in daily or 11 times a day:noway: and think, I would simply LOSE MY MIND if I did that ....yea I used to jump on the scale years ago everytime I walked past it.
I just can't let myself do that anymore, in fact I don't even own a scale, I prefer to weigh in every couple weeks or simply leave it to 1 time a month. Pretty much why most of the terrific challenges on here don't work for me because they all weigh in once a week. :brokenheart:
I know I drink my water (and all the rest of you know it now as well! lol  :drinker: :drinker: ), eat clean, workout and try to keep it positive. SO I feel as long as I do that I'm quite sure I'm not gaining other than PMS time (which I highly recommend you Girls kick the scale under the bed during that time, stay off it keep your sanity!:noway: )
I say grab the ole tape measure and go by that for a bit to see how much you're losing in inches, go by how your clothes feel, how you feel, NOT by what the scale says every few minutes:flowerforyou:
The tape measure can speak volumes and trying on a pair of jeans that you've saved for that 'day you hope will come' might just surprise you whether the scale indicates it or not!
It makes me sad to see so many folks so frustrated over a little metal box when we know in our heart of hearts how we are really doing!!
I say Bri I agree!!!:drinker:
Have a fabulous day all... maybe we should have a special day each week called 'stay off the scale today'....it could be a day when the tape measures and the skinny jeans can get pulled out!!

I appreciate you taking the time to post your daily weights...I do agree some can learn how their body changes on a daily basis to learn how our bodies work. My words were more toward folks that are not yet ready or able to quite handle the fluctuations, newer folks that sort of thing:flowerforyou:
Perhaps I will experiment on that myself one day soon, er rather one month soon and weight myself daily at the gym to see the fluctuations, maybe I'll learn a thing or two about my body.
Suldrun, I think you make excellent points when you shared 'weigh when you feel comfy and can mentally handle it!! Very wise words indeed :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou:

well said, in fact you have convinced me to stop weighing in every day. I am now going to switch to once a week and tomorrow I am going to buy me a tape measure so I can do my measurements that I have not done as of yet. Thanks fitness_chick.:drinker: :flowerforyou: :flowerforyou: :bigsmile:0 -
i am very glad that some people were helped by this. That was my only reason to post!!! To show that it is completly normal to fluctuate in fact i see 2 and 3 lb differences over night. I see people upset that they gained a lb or 2 even though they are doing everything right and i just wanted to show that it is normal thats all.
For those who do not weigh and measure only or weigh once a week only i think all these are great too. I am not promoting weighing everyday i simply wanted o show that the scale is not the end all be all!
My mood and self esteem is not related to the scale or how much I weigh if you find your moods being affected by the scale i hope that this helps you some. You also may want to focus on weighing once a week or measuring. Again I only wanted people to see how normal it is to be all over the place.

I totally needed this...I try SO hard not to weigh, becuase I'm always looking for that amazing number from the day before...so I'm almost always disappointed and while I KNOW there are daily flux, it still disappoints me to no end to see the numbers not dropping.
Thanks!!0 -
thx for your support! Your doing awsome kep it up and we will all get there:flowerforyou:0
