Hi everyone, my name is Lizzie. I'm new and I'm eager to get started.
I have 90 lbs to lose, but rather than focus on that daunting number right now, I've decided to focus on my health and vitality. I'm 47, so it's a bit more difficult to shed the weight at this age. I have a very long commute to work every day, so I've always had a hard time fitting exercise into my life. I leave the house at 6:00 am and don't get home until 7:30 pm. I would wake up every day with aches and pains and I'm much too young to feel that bad. I love to hike, and I have a very fit friend that likes to hike with me and recently I started having trouble keeping up with her. I realized that if I didn't do something soon, this would only get worse.
SO, I have been getting myself up at 4:30 am so i can fit in my workout and after just one week, I cannot believe how great I feel! I have so much more energy, I more focused at work and I'm making much better food choices and have been able to stay within my daily calorie range. I didn't put this weight on over night, so I'm not expecting to lose it overnight. Slow and steady wins the race!
I'm happy to be able to share my journey with people who understand.

Hi, and welcome to THE best site on the web!
Don't worry that you won't be able to lose the weight because of your age, cuz I'm older than you, and I did it, and it was fairly easy too!
Between the easy to use food counter (which by the way is SUCH an eye opener!) and all the wonderfully supportive members, you WILL be able to lose the weight that you want to!
I recommend logging ALL your foods BEFORE you have them, rather than later, as it tends to lead to better food choices. (not to mention you'll know if you've got enough numbers left to have a night time snack, like I ALWAYS try to do!) Some people also like to weigh and measure some things, such as meats, rather than just estimating and possibly being WAY off!
Also, drink lots of water, that seems to help alot too. :drinker:0 -

I've a similar amount to lose as you and have been here just a week, so we're in it together! So far I've found this to be one of the most useful, supportive and "Safe" places I've been in ages! I hope you find it the same.
Congratulations on the workout routine!! That's my down fall. I leave the house early and arrive home late having only managed a 30 minute brisk walk in the middle of the day. But if you can do 4.30am maybe I could at least consider it! What do you do for your workout?

Hi Lizzie!:flowerforyou: Great to have you join us...I totally hear what you're saying about those aches and pains in the a.m, I too used to go through that. Now that I've become a regular excerciser and eat clean I can honestly say I jump outta bed every morning excited to workout and ever so grateful to be able too!

This is only my third day, so I'm a newbie too! I wish you the best of luck.... I must say, everyone here is SOOO nice, and really motivate me to do better!
Today for instance.... Someone ordered pizza for lunch. Did I have any? NOPE nota one!!! I was so proud of myself!

And you are right about entering foods BEFORE you eat -- when I do that, I never have a problem staying within my calories. It's all in the planning.0 -
Hi Flo,
We can do it! I didn't get up until 5:00 this morning, but I still managed to get a 20 minute toning session in. It is difficult to get into a routine in the morning, but I'm finding that if I choose the stay in bed and keep hitting that snooze button - I'm very disappointed in myself all day. Once I'm up, and get started, it feels great and then I'm positive all day. Since I'm going from doing nothing to exercising everday, I'm starting out small. I try to do 30 minutes of aerobics in the morning, alternating between walking workouts, Tae Bo, step aeroblics. I try to do something different everyday. You should try Leslie Sansone's Walk Away the Pounds -- they are great and it may look easy, but you get a really good workout. I love her 1 mile Jog DVD. I also get Comcast on Demand and they have a free exercise site, with loads of workouts to choose from. In the evening, I try to do a short 20 minute of something - either free weights (for upper body toning). Last night I did a One Mile Walk Away the Pounds dvd -- short and sweet. On the weekends, I like to get outside and hike (weather permitting).
After all my failed attempts at weight loss - I know that exercise is the key -- eat less, move more!!
