Hi, I am not new to MFP but I have always used it in the past to record my activity rather than track my calories. However, I do have a lot of weight to lose and so am now tracking calories as well. I have set my calorie intake as 1200 a day, (5ft 5 female, 4 stone to lose) is this about right to lose 2lb a week? I walk around 8kms a day and, when the weather is good, I cycle 150 - 200 kms a week. My weight loss seems to be SO SLOW, I don't want to lose motivation.

Tracking your calories will make seeing exactly whats going on much much easier. Make sure you log everything. Weight loss isn't going to be an overnight fix it'll take a while and sometimes life gets in the way making it even slower. Don't stress too much over it you'll get there!

Mine is mega slow thats why I have become very patient with it, been here over three years lol and I'm keeping on keeping on. You can do this, just stick with it no matter what. If you want the extra calories to can stick with then you don't have to set at 2 lbs loss per week that is upto you. Good luck

I am 54, 5'4" with 63 lbs left to lose, I have set mine to lose 1 lbs a week, because for me the calorie deficit is too large for me to maintain on days that I am not so busy.

I have always thought 1200 is too low for most people. Why not try 1 pound loss per week. This is more reasonable. Best of luck!
