Easy Cheesecake - Good if you are following slimming world t

Hi Guys
I have just added a recipe to the database. It is for a cheesecake. It is so easy to do and is really quite nice!
Ingredients: (Serves 3)
Tub of quark - 172.5 cals
Tub of strawberry mullerlight - 97 cals
Rowntrees strawberry sugar free jelly sachet - 8 cals
3 Ginger nut biscuits - 135 cals (approx)

Directions
Make jelly as per packet instructions to 1/2 pint only (do not top up with cold water) and leave to cool. Meanwhile, put mullerlight and quark into a bowl and whisk gently - here you can add a little granulated sweetener to taste. Put one ginger nut biscuit into the bottom of 3 small containers. When the jelly has cooled divide the yoghurt mixture between the three containers. The biscuit will rise, I am yet to find a way to stop it from doing so. Any ideas welcome. The recipe is not spoiled by this only that the base isn't at the bottom. Refridgerate to set.
You could add some sliced strawberries to the top once it as set also.

I have tried out another recipe this evening that I am yet to try so when I have if it is any good I will post!

    :laugh: OK the only words I recognized in that recipe were "Strawberry" and "ginger" . Does there happen to be a US version? :wink:

  • ROFL it's confirmed.......I'm not stupid. Two others haven't been able to decipher the receipe, either, I'm just ignorant of what quark or mullerlight (beer?) Roundtrees must be a brand name of jelly...i get that but I have never seen a jelly sachet before.
    Someone please enlighten us :-)

    Quark is a low fat soft cheese disgusting to eat on its own but it is free on slimming world and some recipes use it. I had never heard of it before slimming world so it may be available in the US. Not sure. Mullerlight is a yoghurt so your equivalent brand would be fine. Ginger nut biscuits are Ginger flavoured cookies I think you call them (no chocolate chips in them though - cookies over here have chocolate chips in) You could use digestive biscuits as an alternative. Sugar-free jelly I believe you call jello. The type of thing that is liquid when preparing then you put in the fridge it sets into a transparent coloured dessert. Umm I think I have covered it all. I am assuming you know what sweetener is?

    Quark is hard to get a hold of in the US. My hubby is German quark is something he loves but the only place we could find it was at a local health food retailer and it wasn't much like the European version. I'm sure your recipe is delicious :)

    ah-hah! I think I found some helpful information:

    In Germany, quark is sold in small plastic tubs and usually comes in two different varieties, Magerquark (lean quark) and Sahnequark (cream quark) with added cream. While the former is often used for baking and as health food, e.g. as a breakfast spread, the latter also forms the basis of a large number of quark desserts. Much like yoghurts in most parts of the world, these treats mostly come with fruit flavouring (Früchtequark, fruit quark), and are often also simply referred to as quark. As the large popularity of quark desserts is limited to mainly the German-speaking countries, confusion might arise when talking about quark with people unfamiliar with the German or Austrian cuisine

    So I guess it's like a cross between yogurt/sour cream/cream cheese.

    Rowntrees is the brand name. It doesn't have to be that particular brand or type just as long as it is a sugar free one. Obviously my calories are for that brand. Hope I have cleared up some of the questions? Muller light is a yoghurt.

    Where do you get your quark from - I'm struggling to et my hands on it.... tesco's and sainsbury's near me don't sell it any more...

    For the US people, this would be:

    1 tub fat free cream cheese
    1 pot fat free strawberry yogurt
    1 (small) pack sugar-free strawberry Jello
    3 gingersnaps

    I'm surprised no one has ever commented on any of my recipes because they're a crazy mish-mash of US and UK terminology and weights! :wink:

    A decent sized sainsbury's or tescos sell it. If you ask the staff they usually don't have any idea what you are talking about so just have a look around by the cheese aisle. A good way to find out if your local tesco store stock it is to try and order it on tesco.com. That will tell you that they stock it and it is just a matter of finding it. Hope that helps!
  • I make this recipe on a regular basis and I would suggest crumbling the biscuits (I use digestives) and mixing them in with a little butter or margarine (low fat) to kind of gel them together like a proper cheesecake base. That will stop them from rising up through the mixture.

    Also... haha I found it very funny that someone thought muller light was a beer. XD

    And Also... I get my quark from Asda.
