My goal is to remain the same weight but control my glucose levels which are at 6.0. Wondering how many low GI carbs I need per day to remain the same weight. I am 55, 130 lbs and 5'3.

yep set your goal to maintenance, check out the low carb/keto posts.people over there can help, but have you talked to your dr? are you on meds? see if your dr can refer you to a dietitian who works with people who have diabetes and other issues. its going to be different for everyone.

Carb control is something which varies from person to person.

I am a Type 2 diabetic (pre-diabetic) maxed on Metformin and half way to being maxed on Glipizied.
Figuring Net Carbs like in the Aktins Diet will not work for me or someone who is becoming Insulin resistant.

How pre-diabetic are you? That will dictate how aggressive you will have to be on your carb control.

For me I am allowed a pre-meal fasting sugar of 140 or below but for a normal person I believe it should be about between 80 and 110.

Two hours after a meal I am allowed 180 and below but again for a normal person it should be 140 or even 120 and below.

In the last thirty days I have been able to roll back to only taking Metformin by simply load balancing my carb intake. My sugars are approaching that of a normal person but of course that is still not without the help of 2000mg of Metformin a day. Now that I have eliminated the Glipizied I am hoping that the Metformin will follow in the months to come.

I spent several days doing before meal and after meal testing. Without fail this is IMPORTANT!

Again you must figure in REAL CARBS!

    A carb is a carb!

If you add fiber or fat and to slow the digestion to make unfriendly carbs into friendly carbs this will work for a normal person but for the Insulin resistant it will make you gain weight whether you are using fat or fiber to control the digestion of unfriendly carbs and their entrance into your blood stream.

After my testing I found the magic number for me is about 120 carbs a day.
This will automatically govern your calories somewhere between 1700 and 2000.
It is of course all mathematical as generally carbs and calories go hand in hand.

I tested for 3 days 6 times a day and repeat whenever there is a major change like when I dropped Glipizied from my meds. I had to as my sugar was getting far to low at the end of the day (60).

For me it is a general rule of thumb of about 40 carbs a meal.

I load and dispense with carbs much better in the daytime so I do some graduation during the day.

    ie;
44 to 50 carbs at breakfast
40 to 45 carbs at lunch
20 to 30 carbs at dinner

    I am 57 years old 5' 11"
30 days ago I started carb balancing at 317.6 lbs.
I now weigh 296.6 and the weight seems to come off effortlessly.

Remember you need water at least 8 cups a day it helps with the sugars in your blood.
Since I find that much water straight up burdensome to drink I often use the sugar free Great Value drink mixes to flavor some of my water. About half of it and it doesn't seem to bother the process as my sugars are becoming quite good.

The wellness check nurse at work the other day was surprised when she found out I was taking Metformin as my sugar while fasting was that of a normal person.

    Hope this helps
