Supplements, including CLA, can help with fat loss, if you make sure you have the three bases of this pyramid already covered, it's a smart way to top it off.1 -

The effects you will see from dropping your calories by 100 per day will be infinitely greater than that by adding CLA's to your supplement regime.
The cost/benefit for over the counter, legal supplements is so low. Any website (bodybuilding.com) that sells products, is obviously going to advocate the use of them .1 -

Whats fascinating, is that even though that pyramid is a rip off from Eric Helms, it still doesn't recommend CLA as one of the supplements.
OP, definitely check out www.examine.com for all supplement information. It has great unbiased review of the current literature for most supplements.3 -
I took it for months.. but whose to say if any percentage of results were from it or just hard work. Either way, just another expense.1

Nor did they acknowledge or credit Eric Helms in any way. Very unscrupulous.
And of course they have links to products they sell in their store, including bogus stuff like green tea extract - a useless "Dr. Oz special".
Concur with the advice to check out examine.com. They're an unbiased third party and their information is evidence-based, with plenty of studies cited for every product. They don't sell, accept advertising for, or recommend specific supplements, so there's no conflict of interest as there is with other sites like bodybuilding.com.0 -
I've been reading about CLA lately & how it effects fat loss. Anyone have experiences using it?

Hi Jax I take it along with a whole host of supplements. In my opinion supplements do and can aid with fat loss I have also had success with chromium picolinate I tend to loose more when I take all of my supplements. And I take a lot of vitamins! Only way for u to see is try for itself as u know all of our bodies are different. I have heard a lot of success stories about cla especially with men. Sounds as though u r doing the right things otherwise it can't hurt to give it a try for a month and see if it makes a diff for u
Supplements ARE NOT regulated by the FDA, but the DSHEA and that means they AREN'T regulated well at all. Because profit is king, a lot of the the raw materials for supplements come from places like China, who don't regulate PURITY of the raw materials which why contamination is not uncommon.
Do you REALLY know what you're taking or are you putting faith in these company's low monitoring practices?

Thank you! It's nice to see people who are open minded & try things. I rarely post on the boards because of all the know it alls who think that their way is the only way. People just assume you are trying to take the easy way out because you ask about things that might help us along. When really they have no idea how much time & dedication we give.
I'm so sorry, but it is not nice to call them "know it alls" and put them down like that. The reason why most say supplements don't work for weight loss is due to science and scientific studies... they're just trying to save your money.
I don't think they were putting anyone "down"; some of us do tend to come across as know-it-alls. Sometimes, we can be pretty rude as well. Not especially nice when someone is looking for an opinion.

I would argue that the results largely came from your hard work. Even if you were on a proven supplement like creatine monohydrate, it's still your hard work that provides the results. The only thing creatine allows is to for you to push out another rep or two.2 -
First time hearing about CLA , im actually open minded to look more info about this. Sometimes u need help of natural supplements.I don't believe is an easy way out,if your doing the hard work as well . Im curios where can I get this supplement?0

CLA = crap. If you are going to bother with a supplement; caffeine, creatine (if you lift) and whey (only if you need more protein). Outside of that, nothing is really going to help you outside of an expensive placebo.1 -

I was actually considering creating my own reply but, this sums up my thoughts exactly!1 -

If you are open minded to read about it then please read about too much omega 6 vs omega 3 in your body and the effects this can cause.0 -
I tried it because GNC said I could return it. GNC was pushing it hard. $100.00 a bottle. lol The caffeine gave me palpitations and I drink alot of coffee. No fat loss. No problem returning it. Listen to most here and don't use it. Creatine is about the only supplement that is helpful and protein supplements to fill in the gaps. Micro nutrients (those vitamins in veggies/carbs) are more important to get.0

Thank you. And also it's awesome that other people have heard of Eric Helms. He's great for supplement information and I love how he actually goes over meta analysis' rather than picking and choosing studies to fit his topic of choice.
