It's Day 23 - Have I formed a habit?

Conventional wisdom has it that it takes three weeks to form a habit. Now, of course, there is some more recent news that indicates that it takes 66 days but still, if I could cling to the original 21-day figure, the miracle of a “habit” ought to have happened. Yay!
Hmm. Well, it has, I guess. I mean, I definitely think in terms of how much I can take in and remain within my daily calorie goal. And I’ve managed to be faithful to that for three weeks during which I have gone out to dinner several times, visited friends, and attended a birthday party. Perhaps I haven’t quite reached the point of thinking of food as nothing more than fuel but I feel successful. To quote Aristotle,“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act but a habit."
I think I’m on my way to being excellent!

Awesome!! I heard once that it takes 2 weeks to form a habit, i can tell you from experience though...that doesn't work! lol i'm on day 50something (i think) and still going strong!!

As a behavior specialist, I can confidently say that 3 weeks makes a habit, but it only takes 3 days to revert back to one's previous habits... isn't that amazing? I keep telling myself that each and every day counts because three bad days in a row can undo so much hard work. So far I'm pleased with my fitness journey (I've lost 5 pounds in two or three weeks) and it sounds like you're doing great on your journey too! Congrats!0
