Hi everyone. I've been honest about recording everything I eat and drink and have been exercising every day. I'm eating a mostly vegan diet (I'm a lifelong vegetarian), doing my best to stay away from cheese and limiting sugary stuff. I think this is sustainable and realistic. Problem is, I've only lost (maybe) 1 lb. I am wondering if the effort I've been putting in is worth it! I've had better luck in the past but this time I'm not getting the results I was hoping for. Any thoughts?

If you are less than 20 lbs overweight or not overweight then .5 lbs a week is a good rate of loss.
If you expected to lose more and you did not then the standard advice is to improve the accuracy of your logging by using a food scale and choosing correct entries.
It takes time to lose weight so be patient. It has only been 2 weeks. Just keep at it.

You may be retaining water if you are female due to period/ovulation. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10359984/women-menstrual-cycle-weight-and-fitness-matters/p1
You also might be retaining water due to exercise or sodium. If you are constipated that could affect your number of the scale also.
The scale is not the only way to measure progress. Take body measurements witha tape measure and progress photos.

It's not uncommon to not lose much (or any) the first couple of weeks, especially if you have increased exercise.

Great tips. I am in the same boat with the scale but after the holidays, I've been tracking, exercising a lot but my jeans feel less snug and don't feel as bloated. I got off track during the holidays and also had a virus over Christmas so just taking it a step at a time. I'm trying to get back to my maintenance weight abd have lost 1 lb as well in the past weeks which for me is about right. I am revving up my metabolism with more strength training and different types of exercise.

Yes, these are all great tips and hormones play a huge factor with us women. I am perimenopausal and wow, hormones hello ha!

I restarted a couple weeks ago and have not weighed myself yet for that reason. I decided to wait a full month so that I will see an overall loss, rather than tiny incremental losses. Made much easier that I do not own a scale so weighing myself takes effort as I I have to go to the YMCA and use their scale. I took waist and hip measurements when I restarted and will remeasure at the four week mark as well. My pants are already looser so I know even if the numbers haven't changed much, something is happening for the better with my body ;) Maybe give yourself a couple weeks before you weigh again? Take measurements to measure success in ways other than numbers on a scale? Or maybe % of body fat?

Slow loss is good. Fast loss in the first few weeks is often due to muscle loss.

My experience has been that my weight loss is very slow at first. As my metabolism changes and my body becomes more used to burning the calories (our diets are very different) the rate of weight loss improves. I avoid scales for the first month or so. Just keep at it and slowly stretch your exercise goals. You'll get where you want to be.

I've been in the same boat but like someone mentioned try measuring because I thought i wasn't losing anything but then I measured my waist, hips and thighs and I had lost an inch from each place, so now I measure and weigh, consistency pays off

What is wrong with "1 f---ing lb" in 2 weeks? That would be 26 lbs in a year! You say you're not giving up and you screen that slow and steady wins the race. Sounds like you're right on track!

It's been a little over 3 weeks now and I have lost 3 lbs! Turns out the first one was the hardest.
