You should NEVER eat 800calories unless you're under serious medical supervision. Even then it's not a good idea. General rule, most women should never go under 1200calories and 1200calories is pretty low for most people.

What is MFP telling you to eat? Your BMR is around 1900calories per day. BMR is how much your body would need to survive if you were basically bed ridden, which i imagine you're not. Depending on how active you are you might burn 2200-2500calories a day to maintain your current weight.

How much you need to eat to maintain http://caloriecontrol.org/healthy-weight-tool-kit/assessment-calculator/

If you're sedentary (You don't move much, mainly sit all day) You could maintain your weight at around 2200calories. You could eat 1700 calories to lose weight at a nice healthy pace. As you lose weight you will need to eat less as your body won't require as many calories to keep your body functioning.

Here's a calculator to help you figure out how much to eat to lose a certain amount by a certain time. Keep in mind you don't want to eat less than 1200calories as it can cause all kinds of horrible problems, from hair loss to cardiac arrest. I tend to find it's good to eat 500calories less than your body burns to maintain which is why i think 1700 would be a good goal depending on how active you are. http://www.healthyweightforum.org/eng/calculators/calories-required/

If you exercise you'll burn more calories so you can eat even more! I started at 244lbs and when i go hiking I burn 800-1000calories. So i could eat 2500- 2700calories and still lose weight =D. But you don't need to exercise to lose weight. You can just reduce calories if you're more comfortable starting that way. =)

    All the best!

I believe when you're nursing you should be consuming additional calories. I didn't see anything about that on the calorie control site, but I may have missed it.

^ If you are still nursing, you would up your calories yet again. They suggest by 500calories. Maybe try that and log all your food and drink accurately for a week and see if you lose. I'd also consult a GP about weight loss if you have a new born just to make sure you're eating enough and you're getting enough nutrients. =)
