When I first discovered this site (January 2/17) I said I was a senior more worried about health than weight ..... so have been focusing on "balanced" diet, getting enough nutrients, more exercise, a suggested calorie limit of 1400/day .... blah blah blah ..... but after 3 weeks I am up 6 pounds which is a lot because I'm only 5'2" tall ..... so I dug out my old Suzanne Somers book & plans ...... back to Somercizing for me, obviously carbs are a no-no for my metabolism ..... lost 20 pounds with Somercizing about 3 years ago so it's time to get back in that groove ......

Are you weighing and accurately measuring all the foods you eat? If you're seeing a gain many, many times it's because people are eating a lot more than they think. Carbs shouldn't be seen as an enemy necessarily, only if they are eaten in excess (or if there is a medical issue). Losing weight is possibly and very likely through diet alone, if you maintain a calorie deficit of less in then out. Exercising helps the deficit, but it's many times more for the health benefit. Stronger, leaner, etc... Best of luck!

I was being accurate & honest (not even fibbing to myself lol) ..... I won't give up the exercise because I have really come to enjoy it, but it was tough to give up olive oil, wine, taco chips & a few other things that I can "cheat" with on the Somercize plan, & then gain that much weight ...... on Somercize I could go up to 1800 calories & have a glass of red wine almost every night, cook with olive oil & reward myself with taco chips or baked crackers once a week, & I still lost 20 lbs in about 3 months, slow & steady ..... luckily, this site lets me track carbs & nutrients too, because I've really enjoyed using this system ..... thanks for the luck, I need it .....
