A hormone connected to fat cells

I just recently learned about a hormone called adiponectin. From what I understand about it, our fat cells secrete it and it burns off fat. Once you get so much fat stored on your body the production of this hormone slows. This is one of the things that make it harder for some of us to loose weight. As we loose fat the cells start to secrete more of the adiponectin. There are ways that we can encourage our bodies to start making more of this hormone which include:
Exercising
Increasing our body's omega-3 through supplements (mostly fish oil)
Eating certain foods like avocado and fish
And taking in more monounsaturated fat than saturated.
I have recently started changing my diet to try to increase this hormone, and was wondering if anyone else had heard of this and/or had any luck with manipulating this hormone.

Calorie restriction also increases production of adiponectin...
You're majoring in the minors...eat well...eat in a caloric deficit...get regular exercise...win7 -
I had a look at Wikipedia's info on adiponectin. Interesting stuff, thanks for bringing it to my attention. I do agree with cwolfman13 that this is majoring in the minors and we just need to eat well, eat in a deficit and exercise, but I love exploring this stuff anyway.2

Yeah I have been trying to keep a close hold on my calories, I'm just always looking into different hormones and things like that. It interests me to have a deeper understanding of some of the small ways our bodies work. I was mostly just curious as to how many other people had heard of this.1 -

Glad you found it interesting. That's mostly how I found it and why I posted it. I get really into researching the little things that go on in our bodies that affect weight and nutrition.0
