So i cant be the only one that goes to bed starving and wakes up starving..right? Before i started this journey i would always eat a snack right before bed. Now i don't let myself it past 7:00, so most days i eat before 6. But it never fails..around 8:30 the hunger pains strike along with gurgling sounds. Same for when i wake up, before i eat breakfast. Usually i just go to sleep because it is aggravating seeing as i just ate 2 hours before. I get almost all my calories a day. Im wondering am i not eating enough during supper time. Any advice? I know its a crazy discussion but i usually stay up late to get stuff done around my house and its put a damper on that bc i have to go to bed or id eat up the pantry!!!

I eat a snack around 10 pm to avoid that. The idea that you have to stop eating at a certain time to lose weight is a myth.
If you are hungry a lot, make sure you are eating enough calories. Also make sure you are getting enough fat, protein, and fiber. Many people find one of those or some combo of those to feel satisfied.13 -
Have a snack right before you go to bed. The only reason a person should stop eating a few hours before bed is if they have reflux type issues. You're not going to turn those calories into fat if you're still within your goal.6

This is the problem. Assuming you wake up at 7am, that's 12-13 hours since you've last eaten. As mentioned above, the time you eat has no effect on weight loss. So either feel free to eat dinner later, have a snack before bed, or do both (this is what I do). As long as you're staying on target with your daily calorie goal, you'll lose weight.4 -
Oh i didn't mention i don't eat past 7 for digestion issues, not for weight loss purposes. i have a hiatal hernia and was told that would help me during the night. Its not a 12-13 hours since I've eaten because it starts only two hours after i eat. Maybe i need to up my calorie intake at supper!0

How many calories are you eating and what is your weight doing?2 -
I have a large dinner (most of my cals for the day) around 7pm and don't feel hungry until about 11am the next day. Might want to think about experimenting with redistributing your calories?0

That was me for most of my weight loss too. I can have reflux issues so I try not to go to bed too soon after eating either. Still happens a lot now at maintenance actually if I waste too many calories on non filling stuff...0

Can u drink tea past 7? Also is it bad to wake up hungry? Breakfast will just b that much better1

Think I might be able to help if I could see diarys, add me if you fancy. Need more info0

Maybe you could try to add more volume to your dinner, like a very large salad, veggies, or baked potato. Could help with feeling full longer.0

What's your calorie goal?0

My thinking is that you should slow the process down a little. Meaning bump your calories up by 100 or 200 a day and see if you can lose still at that level without suffering so much.1

Have a bigger dinner...make sure you're hitting your calorie targets in general and not under feeding. Maintain a reasonable deficit rather than the most aggressive one.2

^^this
Usually if I feel like I'm hungry all of the time, it's a sign that I need to decrease my deficit. You might lose slower, but that's better than being hungry all the time and eventually bingeing. Dunno what yours is, though...just a thought.
Or as someone mentioned above, try eating lighter meals throughout the day and your heaviest meal at night. Breakfast and dinner are usually my two biggest, and sometimes I skip lunch altogether.0 -
I eat right before bed. Save calories for later in the night. I DO wake up hungry but that's like...normal. I drink coffee to stave off the hunger and wait to eat later in the day. I wouldn't make it through the day if I ate breakfast and tried to stay in a deficit.0

Did you have problems with the hernia when you used to eat a snack before bed? Did your doctor suggest not eating after 7? (If not perhaps you could discuss this with them.)
I'm guessing if you stay up later you could also eat something later, as it would have more time to digest before you go to bed. But if the later snack is out of the question eating more at dinner is probably your best option.0
