Med for BP effect on loss/sodium

My doctor just placed me on hydrochlorothiazide or HCTZ for my BP (had issues off and on for several years). This is my first time being on this during an attempt to lose weight. I am on a very low dose because he hopes my continuing weight loss will lower my BP. I did not think to ask him what effect it would have on my loss. Also wondering about sodium. I already keep it low, as close to 1500 as I can most days. With this pill being a diuretic and releasing water and sodium from my body should I take in a bit more sodium now? I plan to ask him in 3 weeks when I go back but was hoping someone might have some experience with this.

The pill should not effect your weight loss. It is a water pill so you may use the bathroom more frequently, but you can get the full scoop from your doctor when you go back. On the Sodium issue, I think you should be fine staying where you are but again, these are questions for your doctor. Good luck.0
