Max heart rate and average while exercising

Hi,

I'm 28, 83kg, 177cm and calculated my max heart rate to be 188-190.

During regular bodyweight training my HR shoots up to 180-190 and that's not pushing as hard as i could.

Today I went for a 7km run (5:30min/km) and my average HR was 172. At one point it actually hit 189.

Is this something i should worry about? I feel fine and don't get any chest pains.

Tom.

If you calculated your max heart rate with a formula, that's a little bit more accurate than rolling dice. Your true mHR is probably higher than the formula predicts. Hey, it happens with the weather, too.

The only way to really find it is to do a test where you increase the intensity of your exercise until you can't anymore.

But it's better and more useful to find your lactate threshold HR than your max HR.

The range of "normal" for true HRmax is probably 0-35 beats/min above (or below) any estimated HRmax figure.

What is a lactate threshold HR?

LTHR is basically the highest intensity that you can sustain at a steady state.
