Is there a way to check my body fat without having to buy expensive scales or join a gym? I would be surprised if mine was overly high or low, but i would really like to know what it is, and use it as a fitness gauge...How does everyone know their BF%?

You don't have to join a gym to find a personal trainer to find out your bf%. The online estimations are *kitten*.

Try this. Takes body measurements to determine. Also has alot of interesting information.

see that and other helpful links on my blog http://my120daydiet.wordpress.com

    GOOD LUCK!!!

You can buy calipers at GNC or a similar store for like $14 or so. They come with a chart you can use or there are calculators on line where you plug in the caliper measurements. There are also some much less accurate ways like entering your waist and neck measurements and weight into an online calculator and it'll give you an approximation.

There is also a thing called BodPod that costs like $25-$50, (I think) you can google it for a location near you and just make an appointment. It's supposed to be very accurate.

The expensive scales are notoriously inaccurate.

This bf calculator is highly inaccurate and always says I'm at 22%, per my trainer I'm below 14%.
