Health O Meter Digital Measuring Tape Help

Does anyone have the directions for the Health O Meter Digital Measuring tape http://a.co/0h8UYZ9 ? Also, any tips on how to measure accurately? I took my measurements 3 weeks ago and then again today. The numbers look way off! It doesn't seem accurate to me. Thanks in advance for your help!

    Remember that the tape needs to be fully retracted before you turn on the power (to establish a proper zero for the tape).

    Personally, I've never been a fan of these digital tapes, and rely on a self tensioning tape similar to this one (link to "Perfect Waist Tapes") that can be ordered online or had from a local sewing shop for about $2-USD. Again, just my thinking, but the digital tapes that I've played with had issues maintaining their "zero" and also kinda 'slipped' and under-counted frequently.
