Losing weight and swimming?

Hi all. I have been competitively swimming for the past 7 years and a large part of me wanting to get in shape is to improve my swim times. However, I have noticed that Swimming is getting increasingly difficult as the weight comes off. I assume it is because I have always been obese, and I learned how to swim competitively at this size. Fat has a lower density than water, so it floats. I have always been used to swimming at this density, so as I lose weight, my density will increase.
I am down 15 pounds and the season is just starting. Has anyone else experienced this? I hope it gets easier as my body gets used to the changes.

I swim as the majority if my exercise (not as much as you would!) But i find i have to increase my calories a bit otherwise I really struggle to keep up. It has been a bit of trial and error figuring out how much i need to eat to fuel my swimming while still losing weight.1

This sounds excellent. I think I will start to eat a little more before practice so I can fuel up.1
