At what point do total calories drop as you lose weight?

And is it automatic if you're tracking your weight? Is it a % or at 10 lbs, 20 lbs, etc? Just curious! Thanks.

If you're recording your weigh ins on MFP, then your daily calorie goal will be adjusted automatically. For example, I recorded a 1 lb loss on Monday and my daily goal decreased by 60 calories.

I've lost 5 but I don't think mine changed. I'll see if I notice on my next weigh in. Thanks!

I only use MFP to log my food, so I don't really conform to their calorie requirements. But I change my total calories probably about every 7 to 10 pounds. If you want to be maximizing weight loss, do it more often, so your rate of weight loss doesn't decrease. But if you start feeling a plateau for more than 2 weeks, it's an obvious sign to decrease calorie consumption.

hmm I lost more than a lb and it hasnt changed. I was told you had to go in manually(where you first put in your age, weight and height) and change it every 10lbs.

Strange...my calories definitely dropped from 1940 to 1880 when I recorded that loss. Given the wonkiness of this app/website, nothing really surprises me anymore. Lol

MFP will not automatically update your goals when you record your weight under Progress in the mobile app or under Check-In on the web version.

MFP will recalculate your goals if you record your current weight under Goals in the mobile app, which could result in a change to your Calorie goal. There will be a warning that by recording your current weight within the Goals area you are re-running your goals.

Thanks for clarifying that. I still find it odd that my calorie goal was recalculated, as my weigh-ins are synced to MFP via the Withings app...

I synced my Fitbit Aria scale after I had lost all of my weight, so I don't have any observation on whether the Aria scale integration would trigger MFP goals to re-run. It could just be the Withings scale and how their engineers wrote their software code to integrate with MFP, or it could happen with other scales such as Fitbit Aria. Interesting.

I'm on 1200 too and it doesn't go down I lost 10lb in 2 week and now it's taken me 2 week to loose 1 lb don't understand why it's slowed down and to be honest most of the time I'm under 1200 calories and I exercise so I'm stuck to what to do next

1200 is the minimum it will show. Less than that is unhealthy. You are supposed to lose about 0.5-1lbs a week. Not 5lbs.

I think it's about every 10lbs but also dependent on what you weigh in the first place. I don't pay too much attention to be honest but thinking about my start calories and my calories now it's around 50 calories every 10lbs for me at least.

depends on how much you are trying to lose. but even being obese you should not be losing more than 2lb per week.

weight loss is not linear and it will slow down over time. the less you have to lose the slower it will get.and you should not net under 1200 calories. its not healthy.
