I've been attempting to diet for almost a month, and the past couple weeks I've been INSANELY gassy. Like it hurts. Doesn't matter what I eat. Does it have to do with dieting (calorie counting)? It can't possibly be related, right?

Have you increased your fiber intake recently?

I know spinach, broccoli and too much fiber can cause gassiness.... Wanna decrease constipation and gas, try eating more grapes, watermelon, or prunes. Your body is probably just adjusting to your change in eating. It will pass. Good luck!!

Prunes contain sorbitol, which can make you gassy. This is also present in apples, pears, peaches. Many sugar free gums mints and lozenges contain sorbitol. The label will warn that if you consume too much it may cause unfavorable results. Maybe your 'light' diet has artificial sweetners?

Leguminous veg (greens like sprouts and cabbage etc) do have a tendency to cause gas.

Also, if in the past, you've been eating a lot of processed food and are now moving over to a more natural based diet, then your digestive system will change. The flora and fauna makeup will differ.

Drink plenty water and make sure you have enough fiber (porridge for breakfast?).

It will pass but if it's still bad after a couple of weeks - seek medical advice just to be on the safe side.

As a side note - fermented foods really do help with your gut bacteria...
