Hi, I'm Sophie and I just started MFP yesterday, and so far I love it! I'm currently 265, 5'9, and my goal is 170 so i have almost 100 to lose. Any words of encouragement are appreciated!

My words of encouragement are log in daily. I know that seems dumb, but since I've been doing it, I'm really keeping close track of the calories I intake, and what I do to burn them off. I never thought that this site would actually do anything particularly good for me, until about the last few days. I see how motivating people can be, and it really helps to have friends on here who congratulate you for doing a job well done at exercise or controlling your calories. If nothing else, the forums have lots of success stories that certainly help motivate people to want to do better. That's a good place to start too.

As always, keep positive, and set little goals. Work towards them daily, and never give up. It will be a challenge, but one that can be accomplished.

    Just like me!
My start weight was 260 last year, but I dropped 53 pounds since then (220 was my start weight in MFP) and I'm 5'9" as well. Its a long road but...it can be traveled if you keep it up!

    This guy said it all.

When I joined, I made a committment to myself to log for 100 days. no matter what. That meant that even if I wanted to eat 3000 calories+ I was going to log it. But once I started doing it, I realized, "If I am going to log this meal, I want it to reflect fruits and vegetables." And that's how the change to healthier eating/living started.

    Set some goals.

Make MFP friends to help motivate you.

    Do it for you!
