Hi. I really want to lift weights but no idea where to start. I have 3 lb Dumbbells in my basement that I never used. What workouts should I use? How long? Is 3lbs enough? I need help. I want a workout that I can stick to. I don't want to hurt myself during the workout that's why I need advice. Thank you.

I hate to say this but the safest way to learn how to lift is to hire a trainer. If you're not a member of a gym here some advice at finding a gym. I am not a fan of the big box Gyms. Really are about making money. They do high-pressure tactics to get you to buy their services. I would personally go into a gym that's not a big bar there's always one or two that are locally owned a family owned. Let them know what you're looking for and tell them your husband doesn't know you're looking into it and you don't know how much you can get him to agree to paying. Lie if you have to. This way to find out how their payment plans are and how cheap you can actually get the workouts. I recently signed up to start getting back into shape with the small locally owned gym and pay $500 for three months of training. It was worth the $500. You could always do bodyweight exercises. I had a regimen of bodyweight exercises that I did twice a week. Each week I increased the reps by one. I slowly got me a little more fit and give me a lot of self-confidence and accomplishment. I did Burpees, squats, standing lunges, push-ups and planks. Check those exercises as easy to look up online and watch YouTube videos.

If u want to do exercise program at home u need set of d-bells. 3 lb can help only in few moves, the majority of moves need 5, 8, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25lbs. Moreover, with progression u need to add few lb to the same moves.
U can start by doing basic moves for upper, low body and abs. But the best to get a trainer or at least buy good book.
