I need to stop by Target or Wal-mart for a new one. My current scale only shows me a whole number and a fraction of 0.5 and nothing in between that. I would like see even my super low progress.

May I humbly suggest this one: https://www.amazon.com/Soehnle-63308-Solar-Sense-Digital/dp/B003MUM1JI/ref=sr_1_1_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1486486372&sr=8-1&keywords=solar+scale
It costs a bit, but never needs batteries. Ever. It also can switch between lbs and kg, and will measure to within .1 of a pound.0 -
I have a Weightwatchers one. Bought it in 2007 for about £25/$35. Still going strong with only one change of batteries (although that might have something to do with how little I used to weigh myself!). It does fancy stuff like checking your fat %, water % and other things I don't massively care about. but the weight is spot on down to 0.1 of a pound. You can set up profiles for different people in the house, so it can provide personalised settings.
This seems to be the latest version of it: https://is.gd/wwscales0
