Too much fruit???

I recently started making delicious smoothies which generally replace my breakfast and lunch. They're largely fruit based and I sometimes add a few other things (Kale, cacao, oats, spinach). Usually, for dinner, I eat a regular hot meal of solid food. My smoothies are typically entirely plant based/vegan (though, I'm not a vegan -- dinner usually has some portion of meat and I sometimes eat eggs or use milk). As I throw in whole bananas, packages of frozen mangoes and blueberries, among other things, I'm beginning to wonder if this is simply too much sugar/carbs for my body. I know that the break down and dispensation of sugar for energy is much more gradual than processed sugars, but sugar is sugar! I feel great. I workout nearly every days, sans some weekends, but I'm not sure I expend all the energy gained from all this sugar/carbs.

Anyone else consume this much fruit? Any insight?

    Do you have a medical reason to limit sugar?

    If not, my only concern with eating that much fruit would be if you didn't feel well or if it was crowding out other things you need (like protein or fat).

    I tend to consume a lot of fruit in the summer and I don't think it causes any problems for my body. "Too many carbohydrates" isn't really a thing unless you have an underlying condition (or, as I said, it's crowding out other things you need).

    No condition! I feel great! I just wanted to make sure that it's not bad :)

    If you feel good/are satisfied I'd mainly just be concerned you weren't getting enough protein, healthy fats, or the diverse micros you'd get by eating more vegetables (if they really are normally mostly fruit). But if you feel comfortable you are covered by the rest of the diet it is no problem.

    Do you log? That would be the best way to see if you tend to increase your daily calorie consumption when you eat a lot of fruit. If I have too many carbs (for me that is more than 55%) I may feel hungrier, but I tend to get there eating starchier or sugary carbs. All the fibre you're getting from fruits could easily compensate.

    I've been HCLF rawtill4 vegan for almost 2 years now, and I have lost 15 pounds I didn't think I had to lose, and I just polished off a total of 500+grams of sugar today (highly unusual for me, I tend to keep it at around 200 grams) of fruit. Well, today was a special day because it was all from a box of dates I was given as a gift and I maybe kind of ate the whole thing...
    Anyways, I've never heard of someone getting fat from eating too much fruit. Unless it's dried fruit, I'm sure that's a thing to watch out for. I love raisins and dried fruit, but if I'm not careful I could consume 1300+ calories and still be hungry after one meal.

Well, today was a special day because it was all from a box of dates I was given as a gift and I maybe kind of ate the whole thing...
    Anyways, I've never heard of someone getting fat from eating too much fruit. Unless it's dried fruit, I'm sure that's a thing to watch out for. I love raisins and dried fruit, but if I'm not careful I could consume 1300+ calories and still be hungry after one meal.

    Did you mean 500g of fruit or 500g of sugar?

    I'm a vegan and some days I only eat fruit. If you're hitting your macro goals and getting all the right nutrients then there is nothing wrong with this! Fructose is harmless, and probably the reason there are sugar restrictions when it comes to calorie counting is because not every body consumes the right type of sugar. I have never seen an overweight fruitarian or even a chubby one. Fruit is so nutritious and replenishing for both your body and your overall daily performances! Go for it chicca ;)

    My bigger concern is how much protein are you eating? Protein is extremely important during weight loss and if you are only eating one meal, and your shakes have little protein in them, you may be largely deficient.

    I'm not deficient in protein and I'm not vegan. :) I eat RXBars (so delicious - not vegan), eggs, and occasionally chicken.

    I'm honestly not sure exactly but I'm often notified on MFP that I've reached my protein goals..

    That would put you near 60g, which will probably be a bit light for the majority of people. Protein should be around .6 to .8g per lb of weight (most women, while losing weight should be around 100g). Protein is more important during weight loss if you want to maintain muscle mass and metabolic functions. Additionally, when you maintain muscle mass, it means your body fat % is dropping at a fast rate, which makes you more lean.

    This app said I had 500g of sugar intake, but it was all from fruit. I don't eat added sugar. All my sugar comes from fruit.

    Holy crap! I get worried when i hit 120g of sugar, which is usually my max in summer due to fruit, followed by dairy/veggies.

    I would love to know how much/what fruit you eat to hit 500g of sugar.

    That is impressive that you eat over 2000 calories just in fruit.

    I'd be starving if I had too much fruit, I try to limit myself to 2 servings a day.

    Nah it's fine and not all sugar is the same fruit sugar is different than table sugar

    Sugar in fruit is the same as table sugar. The difference isn't the sugar, it's the vitamins, minerals and fiber.
